Default Jacking PuckS ???

I own a 2008 coupe and will do my first oil change soon. I ordered jacking pucks from Mid America Motorworks. On page 173 of their catalog they have two lift pad sets. One for 97-09 vettes at $69.99 and one for 06-09 Z06 only at $79.99. I ordered the ones for a 2008 vette coupe. I received my order today and noticed that they had sent the ones for Z06. I took them out and tried them on my vette and they look like they will work just fine. I called customer service and asked two reps what the difference was and neither one could tell me. Does anyone out there know if there is a difference? I would appreciate the input. Confused !!
Thanks

This might not help, but I bought the round BMW pucks from Bavarian Autosports.

I just leave em' in. Oh...they were a lot less than $80.00.

No difference. As you have already noticed, they fit and work the same.

I believe the difference is that the C6 Z06 has an aluminum frame and the wall thickness is thicker than a normal C6 with a steel frame. Thus the part that goers into the frame must be a little longer. This probably means that a Z06 puck will fit on a normal C6, but not the other way round.

Note to self..............must order a set of these soon.

There is a difference!!

Pucks that fit the Z06 and ZR1 have a longer portion that fits into the frame that the coupe and convertible pucks do.

The coupe and convertible pucks will fit into the frame of the Z06, but will not turn and lock in.

Made the mistake and bought coupe pucks for my ZR1.

cheers!

I like this Idea, has any one else tried this? I guess you would need to buy 4 of them.

Food for thought:

I've got the square ones... Really inexpensive and can be had by simply walking up to your local BMW dealer parts counter - $12.99 each if I recall. Pop 'em in and forget 'em. I've had mine in for almost two years on my '07 daily driver, no issues other than it's easy to lift the car without worry.

FWIW I strongly suggest you do NOT "just leave em' in." There have been several accounts of jacking pucks (left on the car) causing severe body damage when they dragged or snagged on something like a speed-bump.

They're designed for a specific purpose. Don't be lazy, put them in when needed and remove them promptly when you're done using them.

I use the rectangular BMW jacking pucks. To make them easier to remove, I drilled slightly into the center pins and then screwed-in small brass screws leaving the heads sticking-out a bit. The screw heads are much easier to crasp (and pull) with pliers or a Leatherman tool. After pulling the center pins down I use a flathead screwdriver to pry the pucks off the car.

IMO never leave the jacking pucks mounted permanently on your car...you're asking for trouble.

Not to be disagreeable, but I've never heard/seen said "accounts" of puck damage to be factual. It seems these reports are merely urban legend rather than fact. On the other hand; I certainly acknowledge there must be a statistical possibility for damage to be sustained, especially on a lowered car. In everyday practical application however, I've never encountered a problem with the pucks installed on my daily driver - nearly two years. Bottom, line if leaving them in is going to keep one up at night, by all means take them out. For me frankly, it's a lot more convenient to leave them in, after all, BMW designed theirs to stay in once installed.
