I normally respect your thoughts a lot, but I challenge you to show pics of current Porsche and VW products that look alike (other than the Tourag/Cayman). Their cars don't look anything at all alike.

One of our local club members has the 4LT interior in his 2008. Upon close inspection, the leather looks a little nicer than the pebble-grain plastic. But only a little. Durability is unknown, it might hold up better than the plastic or it might not; we never had any deterioration of the plastic in our 2001 (5yrs/66k miles) or 2006 (3yrs/44k miles). The lighter color panels seemed slightly distracting to me but I'm sure you would get used to them. The two-tone seats look a little over-done to my eye.

When we were planning to buy our 2009, I looked at the 4LT and decided that if it were free, I MIGHT take it. For ~$4k, no way.

Obviously, other people like it and buy it. Find one and see how it looks to YOU.

Your not the first one to say I'm crazy or hopefully the last.

Not much for posting pictures but here are the factory links. I think the similarities are striking.

I think the interior of my 06 is just fine. Guess I do not expect as much as others for the money I paid.

Better goodies, increases the costs.

That's the crux of it. For the money, there isn't a car that comes anywhere near the performance of the C6.

IMHO, that's why the bose "audio system" and the leather quality/seats garner so much criticism. Being just okay, they stand out in a car that's pretty much exceptional everywhere else.

That said, GM will hopefully offer a suede interior someday since even mediocre leather is really expensive.

I just bought a Yukon Denali and I wish the Corvette had its leather especially since the Vette's seats are not even full leather to begin with.

I went to a car show last weekend at a local Porsche dealer. First, if you want real leather that is an option from what I saw. Then, the seats look as light weight as the Vette's, and it looked to me that the Boxter, Cayman, and base 911 all had the same seats.

Now, the leather on the dash is very nice, real quality, but as the 911 version that can match the new Vette in overall performance is about 20 to 25 grand more, well, I would expect a higher level of finish anyway.

There was also a new Ferrari F430 there, and I will tell you that interior was very nice, but nothing I expected for a 200 grand car. It really was not that impressive to me.

Just my thoughts.

Thats why I replaced my 07 silver plastic with the 08 Faux Carbon Fiber with DSV's two tone leather trim to match my Titanium/Ebony interior. Quite a difference and I get a lot of complements.

I work in a shop where we sell and fix Porches (as well as Benz, BMW & Audi), and I can also agree that MODERN Porsches do not share any resemblance to VW. Yes, the new Beetle (1 model) looks a little like a Porsche, just maybe. We actually joke around with the Porsche techs and call the cars "overpriced Volkswagens", but that is really far from the truth. If you want something that is REALLY an expensive VW, buy an Audi. Those cars share almost everything with VW.

The old air cooled 911s are like giant lawnmowers, but that's a different story
