Maybe...but the engine/drivetrain in your Corvette is 20X better than the engine/drivetrain in your Kia Boring-0. -Did you not notice the interior before you bought the Corvette?- I've driven my Corvette on several 12 hour road trips and am constantly amazed at how comfortable it is and how the interior layout is perfect for my needs. I only wish I could dim the dash lights more than what is available.
Maybe one of the least intelligent comments made on the forum in 2009.
I have a 2008 1LT and came out of a 2001 loaded Camaro. I like the Vette much better than the Camaro, I think it looks great just the way it is, seats and all.
I was with you until this. I cant see anyone who is under 200lbs (ie can actually fit in a proper sports car seat) being a fan of the stock seats. They are GARBAGE. In fact the farther along my vette gets in the mods the worse the seats become. I took a turn the other day and slid hard into the center column. Its like riding a bucking bronco, zero support in the saddle.
Yea but why should one have to pay THOUSANDS more for a decent looking interior for an already $60K car?? GM has a lot of you really Bull Chited.
Do you have any idea the quality of the MACHINE you drive? Yeah the interior is less than perfect but the chassis, engine, drivetrain, and aero developement are WORLD CLASS.
I suggest some track days and maybe some driving classes so you can learn where that 60k went to. This car isnt meant for the boulevard, its meant for performance.
My only "Bitch" about the Vette is I can use my center console for a microwave oven... If I want a Hamburger, I can go to McDonald's, and put it on the seat... and in 1 or 2 hrs if I get hungry I just put the 1/4 pounder in my console & "walla" its nice and hot in 10 min
Other than that I can live with the interior as is....
Next time you have your car up put in a ABS shielded tunnel plate. My console is cool as a cucumber in 108 texas heat
With some simple mods, I think you can really improve on the interior.
Most expensive would be the seats, but simple changes like the console lid and steering wheel make a world of difference!
looks good. is it caravaggio? If so did you have installed locally? tks
The xlr is a upper 80k car,it seams to me if you change ever thing people want to change on the c6 you may have a lot less people on the corvette c6 forum.I like the way it comes ,more people can afford it,and then if you can afford to mod it. It also helps vendors make money.
I have an '05 that I really like. I plan on replacing a few things like the console door & recovering the steering wheel and I have already replaced the center console with the color matched part, shifter ball. If you want to see a cheap interior, check out my ride prior to the Vette, the 350Z. I also have sampled my neighbor's Cayman and was also not impressed. So I think we have overall a pretty nice package. the most egregious piece of the entire interior is the seat rake lever that bends in your hand....BTW, I have never mistaken a Porsche for a VW and the 914 was a joint venture between Porsche and VW that VW backed out on @ the last minute, it should have had some VW parts numbers... Different strokes for different folks. I would not buy a Cayman(would like me a 911 one day though), but I was a little jealous as my neighbor drove off and I was on the battery charger from a dose of DBS......

The '08 and up models already upgraded the interior. If you pop for the 2LT interior to get the sport bucket seats with perforated leather inserts, and then pop for two-tone seats with embroidered logos on the head rests you have a good beginning. Next pop for DSVettes padded leather center console and door arm rests, plus contrasting leather look inserts for the "Corvette" recesses in the dash, and you are on the way to having an interior that feels and looks as good if not better than the 4LT option for a lot less money.
There have been a lot of suggestions of how to improve/upgrade the interior and others want better brakes and other mechanical upgrades. Most of us bought the car because it is a performance car that performs better than most others worldwide. However, GM is trying to provide excellent performance and a decent interior at an affordable price and I think they have succeeded very well.
I think a lot of people are losing sight of the fact that most of these improvements will cost money. If they are made part of the base, pretty soon we will have a car that is much more expensive for EVERYONE, not just those who want the extras. An approach that might satisfy more people is if the more popular upgrades are options, then those who want them can pay. We are not going to get a ZR1 for Z06 prices.
They steal design elements from VW? Are you kidding? Porsche designs are pretty unique, I will admit they don't change much but that is because of the unique look and heritage they are trying to maintain, that either works for you or it doesn't. It is awfully subjective and thats fine. I like it and think it is just as appearling as the exterior design of a corvette, maybe a bit more but not much. As for it being a souped up VW, thats funny since their engines, suspensions, and transmissions share about zero common parts, and a completely different design philosophy (rear engine, rear drive, mid engine rear drive etc). Obviously there is alot of overlap there..... yea...
Sorry to throw facts into this, but....
Prof. Dr. Ing h.c. Ferdinand Porsche[1] (3 September 1875 – 30 January 1951) was an Austro-Hungarian automotive engineer. He is best known for creating the Volkswagen (Beetle) as well as the first of many Porsche automobiles, and for his contributions to advanced German tank designs: Tiger I, Tiger II and the Elefant. Porsche was awarded in 1937 the German National Prize for Art and Science, one of the rarest decorations in the Third Reich.
Porsche's son, Ferry Porsche, is the eponym for Porsche automobiles, initially based to a large extent on the Volkswagen (Beetle) design.

Everyone knows Porsche and VW's look a lot alike. Most non car people could not tell the difference without the insignia on the 2 cars. As stated earlier. They may be fast, well built, and handle well. But, they just are not very good looking cars. Actually the new VW's look better then the new Porsche models.
Has anyone seen the sports seats in a 2010 370Z? They are both heathed and cooled and offer a lot of support in a car that cost $37,000. O, I for got, since we get performance we can't get a decent seat in the Corvette.

What is the point of having a great seat that is heated and cooled when your driving around in a poorly styled car like the 370Z?
Maybe having the cooled seat would take some sweat off after seeing a great looking car fly by you like the Corvette. I know I would be pissed and sweating if I had to drive a 370.
the steering & gearbox on the 370Z is better than the base vette.
I still prefer the vette, however, especially given the discounting on the 09 Base vettes.
On the vette's interior, TEamYellow hit the nail on the head.
My sense is that the interior will be addressed in the new vettes. Look at the recent Caddy's as clues.
