Knowing I love and own Corvettes I have to ask...Why is Corvette Racing the C6-R in the GT1 class in the American Lemans Series? The only 2 cars entered in GT1 are the Corvettes. Lets build them for GT2 and show our stuff against some compitition!!
They are running in the GT1 to prep for the 24 hours. After this race they will be running GT2 for the season. They normally run GT1. No AM DBs to run against
I think the other GT2 folks will have somewhat of an advantage in that their cars fit the GT2 mold better than the Vette. I think the Vette team may struggle the first year, but we will just have to see what happens.
I thought they said they were running the Long Beach Gran Prix on April 18 as GT1 as well, then LeMans on June 13&14. After that, they were taking time off to retool and get ready to run in GT2 starting August 8 at mid-Ohio.
I was disappointed as I've been leading a trip with our Corvette club to the LimeRock race and Corvette Corral in July the past couple of years and was looking forward to going again this year.

I think that's correct on their schedule. Besides reducing the stroke or downsizing the 'new' engine they won't be able to continue using the carbon/carbon brakes. I imagine there's some other changes as well.
It gets real boring ,real fast when all they race is each other. At least in GT2 there will be lots of cars.Should get exciting again.
Absolutely, this should be great entertainment, as long as GM leaves Corvette Racing alone, and doesn't gut the program to appease the weenies in Washington.....
