I doubt it is going to be totaled I suggest start looking at a thing called Diminished Value. PM me if you want the companies name that I dealt with. Don't say anything to his insurance company about DV, except when they are finished. Don't sign anything also.
I was told that by the body shop I had the insurance company tow it to. They are locals and I know the owner and his wife. They do a lot of high end vehicles and very quality work and the price to go along with it. It's going to be torn down and estimate written next week so we will see. Also the insurance adjuster wanted to have the car towed over 100 miles away to their "affiliated" tow yard. Yeah right! I told them my auto body shop or my house period. It's all speculation right now so next week I will have a better idea of the course I am going to take. I turned this over to my insurance company and they have not recieved the police report yet. Once they find out the responsibility is on the other persons insurer things may change, don't know.
As for the F150 in the household. The wifes back to driving the 06 Stang GT. Yeah I'm a mixed household. I always have the Nash Metropolitan to balance it out though. LOL
As for the statement " that's why I bought a standard so my wife couldn't drive it" I don't know if I should take offense at that. This was her car, her choice and paid for by her. It's her daily driver and baby. It's just my weekend hotrod. She let's ME use it. We live on acreage and the F150 4x4 is sort of a nessescity and I just plain prefer it over a bowtie.
OK enough of this dribble! I'm gonna hook up the boat and we are going to the lake tonight. R&R

[QUOTE=AORoads;1569900477]Glad everyone's ok. But a pizza delivery guy in a Miata that's a "company car?" When did that happen?
QUOTE]
You would be supprised the number of much nicer vehicles that are company owned, and contribute nothing to the company other than move the owner and his family about. My former employer of many years owned no vehicles. Wife and children's cars were company owned as well. This included a Corvette vert. What's worse from a taxpayer standpoint are the cell phones that are listed to small companies, law firms, medical / dental clinics etc. but are sprinkled around to wives, sons, daughters mothers in law, even the nanny! Just remember, when you steal from the govt. you are stealing from the taxpayer, and we all know who that is.
Sorry... no way the car is totalled... if you've ever wanted a different hood or a Z06 or ZR1 widebody now's the time. Your insurance company will pay to put the car back to pre-accident condition. What you do on top of that is up to you. They'll stroke the check for the parts/labor and you can pay the extra to do more if you wish
my piont was that many people are either die hard chevy or die hard ford, its like rivlas in anything such as sports, its usually one or the other
I realize that. I was joking around. I've never been hard-nosed about brand loyalty. I was a Chevy truck owner for many years until I drove a 2002 F150. Now my 05 4x4 is my daily. Personal preference. We've got the Vette, 06 Stang Gt and F150. Love em all. I ride a Harley and love it but also own, ready, 3 Wards Riverside cycles (Benelli's). Love old italian bikes. And our car show car is a 57 Nash Metropolitan and 62 Austin Sprite MK4. So you might say I'm an equal oppertunity car owner - or just plain weird. Whatever. I'm havin fun in my "mature" years (he-he-he).
remember - getting old is manditory, growing up is optional!
You will find your insurance company will be easier to deal with than the other driver's company and they will get your deductible back for you.
The only goal of the "other" insurance company is to pay you as little as possible. While your insurance company isn't going to give you something for nothing, they do have the incentive to keep you as a happy customer and that means taking care of you. Good luck with the repairs.

Are the bass biting at Margarita? Might have to run over there on Sunday. Sounds like you have a good handle on whats important. Good luck with the repairs!

Actually went to Lake Nacimiento this weekend but no fishing. Put the new (used) boat in the water and tooled around. Damn, lakes only at 36% but still had fun.
Won't know whats up for a few more days until the repair shop does the tear down and estimate. My insurance company is handling the repairs and I hope this doesn't turn ugly. I have a feeling that I am going to have to argue about the "dimished valuation" issue when the time comes.

Just got the call from the body shop. Looks like $24,062. No way totaled at that amount. Guess the negotiating will have to start. phileaglesfan I pm'ed you. The responsible partys insurance will have to cough up the diminished valuation and I'm guessing that will be like pulling teeth on an alligator. I've often wondered why when something is someone else's fault it causes you so much trouble.

I just pm'ed you back. Since your insurance company is getting involved I would talk to them about DV. If they are good then they should fight for you, if not just call the people I mentioned. You should definitely be owed something because with $24k of damages you'll definitely lose a lot of value. The DV appraiser will tell you how much. He even looked at the depth of the paint of the whole car. We weren't too impressed with how Chevy painted my Impala OEM. The damaged side actually was better.
Find out what your state's small claims court is and if they allow lawyers. That is what it is going to come down to. For me it was cheaper to settle for $2k then either hire a lawyer (Because Allstate would have one for their client) or risk losing it all without one.
