2005 has had two fuel pump failures in 15 months. Is this a common problem?

I have an early 2005 (Sept 2004 in-service date) and have thusfar had no such issues at 25k miles - - -if it's an problem for others, it's rarely hit the forum.

Not sure what might cause such a thing - - -

I have heard of this when the ethanol content is high (not with vettes, with other makes). Lexus (wife's DD) actually had a recall regarding fuel system failure and high-content ethanol gas. Any chance your gas has greater than 10% ethanol content? You might try having your gas tested or just switch gas stations.

i have an with zero fuel pump problems. if you are running the fuel level under 1/4 tank a lot, the pump life will go down. the fuel keeps the pumps cool. have seen a lot of cars with fuel pump failure from this. i was a tech for 28 years and changed a lot of late model pumps. just a thought.

I've always heard that the overwhelming majority of fuel pump failures are caused by running out (or at least nearly out) of gas

Wow, first I've heard of it. October of 2004 built 2005 here with 28,000 miles. No problems for me.
