Just tinted some headlights...

It'd be cool if they could make headlight covers that act like "photo-gray" sunglass lenses . . . darker in the sun . .clear in low light.
Dibs on the patent ! !

I think they would look good on a black car! I had tinted headlight covers on a couple of camaros and a dodge van back in the 80's , I never took em off and could see fine. Never got pulled over either (for the covers that is). Some people understand, some think you're stupid. I say do what YOU want to do!

Maybe this pic will clear the darkness thing up. This tint is made for applications like this. These aren't that dark at all. It's just a light shade of tint . I cleared and buffed the heck out of it for the shine.

Hey JW thanks for the awesome work. Ive seen similar work on several corvettes and it HAS NO AFFECT on the way the lights shine through. I have HID lights already and I researched the heat issue as well and it will not make a differce on the temp of the lights either. I appreciate all your concern but Ive looked into the issues associated with doing this mod on my car. Its no different than installing a black out over you tail lights. Im not 100% on the legality as there was no clear rule on the books but Im sure it wont be an issue.

Wow, some of you people are just plain ignorant. Simple as that. For those freaking out and going overboard with the "OMG your gonna kill somebody cause you have no headlights nowwww!" comments, get over yourselves.
Do you really, really think that the ultra-bright factory HID's with mild lens tinting are going to throw anywhere near as little light as ANY other factory halogen or xenon bulb on 95% of the other cars on the road? They still are, and still will be MUCH brighter than 9 out of 10 cars on the road.
Seriously, what kind of rationale are some people using? Better start eating your spaghetti with a spoon, cause that fork really could take your eye out if you get your elbow bumped mid-bite.

His lights were chipped up when I tinted them as well. I don't think you're going to avoid that. It can be reapplied easily though so nothing to worry about.

I have seen a few C6 headlamps that crack or craze due to a laminate film being applied to the lens. Not all films will cause this condition, but if this occurs, the replacment cost can be expensive.

Maybe I didn't word the title correctly. I painted these with a special tint. No film was applied to the lights.

Are those tinted from the inside or on the outside? There like the old headlight covers people used to put one the headlight back in the day.
Also, won't the heat of the headlight melt or shrink the tint?

I do like the tint on it. Looks like quality work. Extremely cost-effective too. However, I love the overall look and design of our headlights so I just shelled out the extra money for black ones.

It's real simple. If the owner of these headlights hits someone at night and kills them (Even if the headlights are not at fault). The person who tinted them will be getting sued by the victims family.
As a business owner I would not subject myself to potential liability.
However noone thinks of stuff like that until it is too late.
Everyday I see ad's for personal injury attorneys.
Good luck defending your product in court.
