No. What you're most likely hearing is the black air dam scraping. It's designed to handle being scraped without damage and it's not a piece that gets wrapped with the clearbra material.

It is well worth having. I have it on my front bumper, both outside mirrors, on all four wheel openings and the door edges. It saved me from mirror damage last week when I misjudged how close I was to the edge of the garage door and hit it with my passenger mirror hard enough to fold it. Examination for damage showed none and that the hit was on the coating and did not touch the paint.
