Thought about that, My deduct is $500 so we'll see what the total is. Wont bother if its under $500.
A couple years ago I was about to pass a truck going about 75 mph when he blew a tire just in front of me...it sounded like an explosion. Fortunately I was driving my pickup, cuz the rubber, shrapnel, smoke and everything else that came off his wheel made for an exciting time. I hit the gas and got in front of him as quick as I could.
The rocker panels are cheap its is the install that will cost big bucks. Unlike the C5 the C6 rockers are bonded on and are a royal PITA to get off. Turn this in to your insurance because it is going to be an expensive fix.
I'm glad you were not hurt and SMC can always be replaced/repaired....
DARN road gators! I-10 is always an obstacle course of those things. My worse collision so far has been the racoon that came out of nowwhere. Right up under my front drivers side tire. Tore up the air dam, headlight out of the socket, fender well piece from the fender. First month I had the car. Hair stuck in every screw it could find on the way down the bottom of the car.
Second worse was the skunk - no damage but stunk for a week.
A man I know was killed while on the job when a tire/wheel fell off a pickup truck filled with immigrants. It went through the windshield of his truck (large dump truck), and he died instantly. He was the passenger in the truck. God knows how many people would have been injured or killed if he had been driving. Road debris and improper (or no) tie-downs of loads are my pet peeves.
Went to the dealer today and they put it on the lift. No other damage and not as bad as it looks (well kinda) once you get a good look at it.
It was just a small corner of the sill adjacent to the epoxy that was torn off. The tread got caught in it as it was passing through and took it with it. GM couldve made some $ off me but the Corvette tech is a cool guy. He sealed/painted the exposed white fiberglass and said there was no need to replace it. Again you can only see it if your under the car.
The damn gravel trucks are my worst nightmare. I think the Vette is a gravel truck magnet AND, they seem to always drive in the center lane so you cant's even get around them with much clearance.

Hey Sic! Here I come?!
glad to hear it was an easy fix! no one will ever see it.. the vette is so low you can't get under there without a lift! :-)
The highways and roadways are becoming increasingly hazardous because, at least in my state, the DoT has decided that keeping the highways clean cost too much money these days. There was a newscast in which officials stated they were reducing clean up the road debris and grass cutting of the medians to twice a year because they cant afford to do it more often. Since then there has been a lot more gators, matresses, mufflers, and you name it on the highways. Add to that the median grass is at an all-time high and its hard to see over/around it in a Corvette when trying to merge lanes.
Multiple mini gators nearly got me last week on the 495 on Long Island. Some wackos in a ratty ten year old Buick passed me doing about 90mph in the right lane. They then moved over to the center lane in front of me and BLAM! One of their tires exploded. Pieces all over.....No one in the left lane, and I found out just how good my car handles at 70. I was very surprised they kept it under control and got it to the shoulder.

They were probably NASCAR drivers out on a training exercise.............
