Default modding away...

ok guys so I don't own a corvette but I own a 08 mitsubishi evolution mr>
My buddy has a 09 c6 ls3 and wants to be able to hang with the evo so he gave me a project to help him out modding his vette.
I know nothing about domestics as I have always been a big JDM fan so I know nothing about who makes good performance parts for vettes.
I wanted to start him off with just basic easy bolt-ons first so if you guys could share what are some high quality performance parts that would be great.

first off we want the car to be able to breathe better so I want nice intake, recommendations?

next we want to get this air out better so an exhaust will be next inline.
recommendations?

this will be all for now but within the next couple of months we will slowly be building her up. thanks for the help here guys!

ok i am bored so i looked up road and tracks review of both cars
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=6931 (evo)
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=5708 (c6)
1/4 mile in evo is 13.7 @100
1/4 mile in c6 is 12.8@113
so in order for the c6 to hang with the evo he would have to put some loose wieghts in the rear probably about 200 pounds and maybe shove some socks in the air intake. hope that was helpful. before you get all mad remember these tests are done by the same magazine probably at the same place by the same driver so i am thinking the margin of error is not give or take a second.

So who starts to pull at 100?

All he has to do is a cold air intake and tune and it is all over for your EVO.

Cool you guys are bangin gears!

First your buddy needs to get on the Forum and begin to educate himself on the C-6 performance capabilities. The Tech/Performance Section here is a wealth of information. In the end it is always "How fast do you want to go and how much money do you have".

The first mod I'd do is hang a custom hoodliner and airbrushed FRC's .

C6 owners shouldn't underestimate or simply dismiss an Evo (or over-estimate the Corvette). I have a lot of respect for what an Evo will do on a race track. A friend of mine from Phoenix who I used to race with (he moved out of state) had a highly modified Evo. He was an excellent driver and the Evo hauled ***. My car is far from stock so it's hard to judge but I think a stock C6 with a competent driver could definitely "hang" with most all Evo's.

To the OP...IMO look to the premier Corvette tuner shops such as Lingenfelter, Katech, 21st Century Muscle Cars (a Lingenfelter installer in Dallas), Doug Rippie Motorsports, LG Motorsports and Callaway. If they can't hook your friend up no one can.

Louis and myself have been around a few modified 4G63 engines, so I know what he is going to be fighting against with his car.

I would be more than happy to help you help him, or just have him get in contact with us here at the shop.

<----FORMER JDM man
Evo's are some amazing cars and really respond well to mods. That being said, I agree with some of the others, that your friend needs to sign up and do some searching for himself. He's the one that will know what he's looking for and the type of money he's will to spend.

Forget the CAI, not much there in terms of gain on a stock engine. Headers + Tune will add approx 30hp/35tq to the wheels..But there goes the powertrain warranty..
Also the C6 tech section has a more "Hardcore modding" crowd..Have your friend post over there..

He starts pulling? If he starts pulling then he is doing more than hanging. A cai and exhaust and I'm afraid he'll beat you even worse. Especially if he has some wide tires at back. I'm guessing where you get him is off the line. Whats up with the blue exhaust and the ugly hood?

this guy is completely computer illiterate! I had to help him with sending an email to some of our hockey buds. It would be disastrous to attempt to show him how to search and utilize the forums.

anyway thanks for the help guys.
I was looking into the k&n intake system and a catback exhaust for starters! then later down the line headers and a tune and that should put him where he wants to be for a while! He definatly would smoke the evo then, thats for sure!

EDIT: I have the intake picked out can you guys give any recommendations on an catback exhaust.

Also try and find a used z06 exhaust.I had a 500rwhp
evo8 but it was a pain in the *** if you get caught in the wrong rpm and gear at the wrong time.
