I previously had a '99, and the seats were wonderful. 8 hours in them was a pleasure. Then came the '05. Ugh. They felt harder, narrower, and the seat cushion felt shorter. But after two years, they do feel better and I can sit in them for up to 4 hours without much discomfort. Perhaps I have broken them in. I can't help you on the re-building of them, but I also thought about it when the car was new. I am sure that a good auto upholstery shop can fix them. Good luck.

Do you have the seat lowered as far as it can go? If so, raise it a 1/2".

I have noticed the problem you refer to. I prefer the seat adjusted as low as possible (electric seats) but that is when the problem is most noticable so I adjust the seat up to a point where it is tolerable.

Yes, the seats suck compared to the seats in the C4s. I have more than 500,000 miles in Vettes, and these are far and away the worst. I am taking my car in to an upholstery shop in two weeks to have ballistic nylon put on the frame and replace the crap foam with memory foam.

I had to smile at the respondents that mentioned four hours in the car - I spent 9 just Monday - all in the rain!

It took me a few weeks to get the seat adjustments correct, especially the lumbar support.
Now that the are correct for me, I can drive ten hours with no problem.

m seat is all the way back and down,,,legs pretty straight. pretty comfortable for me hard to say what your experiencing but i have the 2lt where the lumbar is adjustable as well so i seem to be able to get it about right. the seats are easy to take the covers off so maybe get some foam and tinker with it

You have the seat to low , you are hitting the floor.

I'm sure it could be improved upon but I don't find the OEM seat uncomfortable...it's OK for me.

As someone else mentioned the '99's, my '99 had a great seat and could easily go for the whole day. My '07, doesn't feel near as good. Now for the OP's seat, are you the original owner and if you are, weight will be an issue if you are heavy. Not saying anything bad to you so please don't take it wrong, just that you or the possible previous owner, may have crushed the seat cushion material where its collapsed. If so, the a good shop will be able to replace it for you and possibly enhance it as well. The seat cushion is available.

Four hours!? And that is a test!? Okay, yanking your chain and no offense.

I could sit in my C5 sport seats for 10 + hours, hit the motel/hotel, relax and hit the bar at my leisure.

After driving six plus hours in my C6 with the sports seats, my **** and back are so hurting I can't wait to hit the bar!!

Said it a zillion times before, whenever this comes up (once a week!) and I'll say it again... The C6 sport seats suck compared to the C5's. Otherwise no comparison. The C6 rocks.

PS. I'm not a fat ****! Six foot and 185 lbs.

I agree. (and I have also said it numerous times.) I've taken a couple of long (1800 mile) trips in my Z and the seats start really getting to me after about 3 hours. This contrasts to my itty-bitty MR2 with snug & firm Recaro seats that I have driven through 38 states on looong drives (300-650 miles per day every day for 3 weeks) with nary a whimper from my *** and/or spine (nor from the *** and/or spine of my passenger/wife.)

Heck, even the GM folks have said that the car deserves better seats but that they can't justify the cost of developing and (crash) testing a new design.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Gerardo at DS Vettes finalizes with their new seats. The Corvette deserves better that what it's getting now, that's for sure.

I luv my viper seats. They are not heated like the factory but they are much better than what gm offers from the factory.

Yes.

This topic has been discussed in many threads. Some examples:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...s-recaros.html
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...r-comfort.html
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-complete.html
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...king-down.html
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...e-useless.html

I'm also waiting to see what DSVettes offers. Or contact Caravaggio if you can afford $4k+ per seat. And check Arizen if you're going racing.

This cushion fits my 1LT seat perfectly: http://www.healthyback.com/products/...mpur-pedic™/29
But it compromises headroom. And it's hard as a rock when cold -- though nicely supportive for me after my butt warms it.

My suggestion: Do your homework & ask lots of questions before you spend any $$$.

I've driven mine for a couple of years and think the seats are fine, they're comfortable for me.
