Default Battery replacement under warranty?

About a month ago, I noticed my battery (for 2007) was starting to go. Vette would just barely start after not driving for a few days. It was tested by a local dealer and found to be low on their load test. They replaced and charged me for new battery. I assumed (probably my first mistake and certainly not my last) the battery would not be covered under warranty. Today, I went to the same dealer (different service rep., the old service rep. for battery issue is no longer with the dealership) for a warranty repair. He looked at the maintenance history and stated the new battery should have been free and covered under the warranty on the prior visit, since I was still under 36,000 miles. They credited the full amount for the battery replacement. Are batteries (full replacement as opposed to pro-rated) covered under the 3 year/36,000 bumper to bumper warranty? I know the warranty book says bumper to bumper (including tires), but I was surprised that battery (with useful life that can be affected by so many use factors) was 100% covered, at least according to this dealership.

I had a AC Delco battery in my '01 that failed in Oct. of '03 and it was replaced, free, under warranty. The car had about 12,000 miles at the time. Sad that a GM service writer wouldn't know a battery is covered. Glad the 2nd guy knew better.

The AC/Delco OEM battery, when replaced under the vehicle's 3 yr./36000 mi bumper to bumper warranty is never pro-rated, but the warranty is only for the remainder of the 3/36 B2B warranty. A replacement battery purchased after 3 yr./36000, or over the counter will be pro-rated, and the warranty terms are different than on OEM battery replaced under the GM bumper to bumper warranty. The warranty length on a replacement AC/Delco battery is independant of mileage and the length is on the battery label.

Sounds like a stand-up service rep and dealership, they could have kept quiet and avoided the hassle.
