Default Headers Question

I have a Borla cat back system on my stock 07, I'm thinking about adding L/T Headers and high flow cats. Is it worth the investment? Can I buy the headers and cats with out the xpipe? Should I do headers, cats, xpipe, reinstall the stock mufflers and sell the Borla system?

Not looking to be louder but better performance.

Any input?

Yes....I think you should do all those things, and I would like to by your Borla system....Seriously though, you would be going from simply "sounding" good, to sounding good and increasing performance in the range of 25 to 30hp depending on the headers. And you would also want a custom tune after the new system is installed that would surely raise the HP even more.....If you do decide to take your exhaust to the next level I would be interested in the Borlas if they are still in decent shape. My car still has stock exhaust, so I'm looking to get to where you are now. Then in time I'm sure I'll go with headers and X-pipes too....It's inevitable, I think once you have one of these cars you slowly begin to want to increase your hp so you know that when a stock vette, or maybe a modded up Mustang pulls up next to you, you know that your not just sitting in a stock corvette. Even if that's what it looks like from the outside, you'll know, (and so will he once you take off) that this car is much more than a stock corvette. I personally want my C6 to be able to run with a Z-06, so I plan to add around 100HP through many minor mods, like cold air intake, exhaust, custom tuning, stuff like that. I don't want to go the supercharger, or turbo route....Too much money for me, and I don't need 650rwhp...450-500 would be fine....Sorry to talk your ear off but it's late and I can't sleep.

Yeah I just bought a set of 1 7/8" ARH headers only
After you install the headers just take it to a "Good exhaust shop" and they can tie it all in for about $75 Also make sure you have your new headers Hot Coated to Help with heat in the engine.
you'll also need new exhaust manifold gaskets and spark plug Booty's
I plan on welding up a titanium mid section to save some weight and have something to "oogle at" while I'm laying under the car
Thus I passed on the X pipe

You don't say which Borlas you have, but L/T headers will make any exhaust louder to some extent. If you have Borla Stingers, you may want to go to the less agressive street version as you'll get more drone.

You can't beat NPP's for having the best of both.

In a word "yes" but be aware of potential emissions testing issues (if that affects you) and potential adverse affects to your warranty. IMO Borla exhausts are more susceptible to producing drone in the C6 but there'd be no way I'd re-install the stock mufflers. Certainly performance is the primary objective but for me sound quality is an integral part of the performance car experience. I don't want "loud" per se but I do want a performance car that sounds like one. FWIW there are several decent brands of long tube headers but IMO LG Pro long tube headers are the best (I'd also suggest you have them coated). Don't take half-measures. If it's worth doing it's worth doing right! Good luck!
