This thread takes the cake. Any manual C6 will fry the tires from a roll, and any OWNER should be well aware of that. There is no need to dump the clutch, or worse yet, dump the clutch, and apply the brakes. The key to exceleration in a C6, or any performance car, is to try to NOT go up in smoke off the line. Exibition is for kids, and if you don't know what you are doing, a C6 is NOT the car to learn in. A C6 could get away from you in a hurry.

The burnouts you see at a drag strip are performed just BEFORE the race. You drive thru a "water box", then do a burnout... this helps clean & dry and heat-up the tires for better traction.
So, I'm also guessing the OP wants to know how drag racers do a burnout AND stay in place. Just google "line lock" and you'll have your answer.

Do know, that we all have to start somewhere, so those ripping on you for not knowing how to do a burnout in your car, ignore them.
Are you attempting to learn this for use on a drag strip. I hope that is your purpose for asking.
Do not try this on the street.
At any rate, some prefer using a 1st gear burnout, the author below uses 2nd.

A line lock, while useful, is not entirely necessary.
For those who asked, a line lock allows the front brakes to be "locked" without the rear brakes being locked. It uses a button or switch to do so. When it is activated, the front brakes lock, the rears do not and this holds the car in place allowing the rear wheels to spin more freely when throttle is applied.
When the burnout is completed, the lock is released and the car allowed to move slightly forward. If you are going to be doing a lot of drag racing, then a line lock is useful.

hold Traction control/active handeling button down for 5-6 seconds until BOTH ARE OFF
then rev to say 2k-3k and dump clutch in first grear as you left foot comes off the clutch, let it go right to the brakes, but DO NOT stop on the brakes, just get a feel where it will hold the car, but not to much to bog the car at the same time.

I guess the first question should have been what are your intentions.
