I'd recommend you don't take the NPP exhaust option. I feel you're better off going with a quality, after market exhaust produced by either Corsa or Borla.

As you said, I am not too into having a gimmick on my exhaust (such as the flapper valve inside the NPP). However, the drone inside a corvette without the option will drive you up the wall if you are on a long road trip. I close the valve manually (via M2W switch) when I am on the highway for a long time, or if I am on the phone. Otherwise it stays open.
I have always bought performance exhausts and fully intended to purchase one for my 2008 coupe. However, the option to turn off the "corvette drone" (the drone, BTW sounds like **** and is not a pleasing rumble at all)
If you are ever going to use this car on the road for anything other just short trips the drone will drive you sane.
The option to turn the drone off makes the NPP sooo much better than the options out there that I wouldn't have it any other way - and EVERY other vehicle I have has custom exhaust on it and my Vette would too, except for this glaring problem (the drone).
I would have ended up buying the corsa exhaust otherwise, but I am entirely happy with the NPP and at this point, I wouldn't even consider trading my NPP for a Corsa exhaust SPECIFICALLY for the ability to use the "hokey gimmick" on/off switch that the M2W offers to turn off the drone.
The tone of the NPP when open sound every bit as good as any other exhaust out there too!
So,
my vote is, like so many here YES to the NPP!

Robert.
). And when I take the Vette to a fancy function like a wedding or something its nice to quickly civilize the car with a touch of the visor button.
