I print the attached picture and stick it on both sides of the car (with a little piece of 3M blue masking tape) before leaving the car at service. I leave a copy inside too.
I've only had my car to the dealership a few times in 4+ years but after watching one of their mechanics begin to lift my car without any jacking pads I started using a sign as well. Besides mentioning the jacking pucks (which I can snap-into place beforehand) I mention placing the transmission in reverse when parking (its an '05) and no test drives. Despite the sign they still managed to park my car in first gear and kill the battery.
That said I don't have a major problem with dealership service. In my experience they've always done a fairly decent job.
Some of these cretins wont install them even if told. Its happened before to members here. It doesnt hurt though. I also have it written on servive ticket that they are to be used and the mechanic and service writer are told by me and make it known that there is no damage to panels at drop off. to many horror stories.
haha when we go to get an oil change and leave this they'll think you're trying to be a ***** but if they bust up your rocker panels that may ruin your day too!
Never leave your car unattended at the dealer.Too many stories on what can happen. If you know that they are going to lift the car make sure that you are there to watch them.
I've never used jacking pucks and have yet to damage my rockers.
Same here, plenty of room and safer by paying attention and putting the jack in the right place. In fact tomorrow I'm getting new wide ovals installed. I'll just look at him and say remember the rocker panels....
I bought my car last month and ordered the pucks based on what everyone was saying on the forum. The other day I was looking to see where the pucks insert and noticed that my car had rectangular rubber inserts in each of the slots. Anyone know what these are?
I'm sorry but as owners of a Chevrolet product, I'm surprised we need to go through this much trouble to avoid damage to the car. GM, please design the C7 so this is not an issue - build the pucks into the frame or something.
If this is what we have to worry about for just lifting the car, what happens when the service guys need to get into the guts of the thing for something serious? Cringe.........
Hey GP from a fellow Long Islander, if you bought your car used my guess is they are from the former owner. I have seen "square" pucks in a couple of catalogs. Take them out! You dont want one falling out and getting run over and kicked up by your rear tire.

The pucks just make it easier to lift the car without actually looking under there and properly positioning the jack. There is more than enough room under there to lift the car without using the pucks.
Thanks Tiggers. They were in there pretty tight. Will take a closer look this weekend. My cousin lives in E. Northport, he has a 78 anniversay edition vette in 2 tone silver. Maybe you've seen it around.

Wide Ovals? I haven't heard that term in 30 years!

It's funny I remember buying a set of f 70 14's I believe for my first 65 GTO back in 1971...I was 16. I think they were about 80 bucks. The Vette's wide ovals are going for 1150 otd...
Seems like there were three tires we looked for back then...Wide Ovals, Tiger Paws and Micky Thompsons...
