Good input in this thread. I'd like to get tinted but can't find anyone that can or will do it. I am close enough that I checked with Mid America Motorworks in Effingham IL...but they don't do tint. Go figure.
Anybody with referrals in St Louis-paducah-central or southern Illinois?

My car has been done in 35% tint on the back and side windows -- nothing on the windshield. I like a uniform look and as far as I know the 35% tint is what is legal on front side windows here in Oklahoma -- I think you can go as dark as you like on other side windows and the rear glass. It's dark enough for me but not so dark that I have trouble at night. Here are a couple pics as my GS is black also.
Good luck with whatever you pick!

"I voluntarily took 60 days off from OT"
I have limo tint on all of my black rides .....This pic of my SSR gives the best idea of how dark it is...Nothing looks stealthier than a black vehicle with limo tint.....

28% on back and sides, none on windshield. That is the max in Florida, and it looks good, and helps keep it cool. Very pleased. Had my Chevy dealer contract with a guy they used, because then the dealer would guarantee my satisfaction, and continues to stand behind it. No problems with the install or since.

Not likely the heat was from that as I went there directly after having the car detailed in a shop about a mile away

There is a very slight blue to it
I looked at his Hummer windshield and it was not even noticeable when looking through it as one piece. Looking at a single piece did not allow me to get the idea of what a finished piece would look like. It's barely noticeable even when comparing the same area through the open door. Had I not known it was tinted, I would have not realized it was different than a regular windshield.

I had mine done and the car was fine then a few weeks later I seen the quality wasn't what I wanted. the back window wasn't to my standard so I had it taken off. Good Luck!

Do your research...
Find the best tinter in your area by looking at his work on another vette if possible. Dont go by referrals or you will end up retinting like me.
Very few tinters can handle the rear window contour and the dot matrix at the top. Dont let them use the glue in the dot matrix area( it can be done without it )
Also watch out for computor cut tint. Some programs cut the tint short and it does not fit the side windows tight to the edges. Hard to beat a good hand cut job but not many of those guys around still.
Good luck

I live in Arizona so window tint in automobiles is virtually mandatory. I would never, however, tint the front windshield. I stayed within legal limits on the side glass and went a bit darker on the hatch glass. I'm not a fan of blackout or near blackout tinting...it's dangerous at night. My tinting works just fine for me.

Normally I had never even thought of windshield tint, but my old Vette's lost their leather color within a year and it really bothered me. Not after checking this new Llumar out it seems that this is a real solution to that problem.
Infor on windshield tint:

As I was told by my installer, he does hand tinting and has been doing it for 22 years now. He guaranteed me top quality and wants to use my car for his web site.

I have the blackest black there is and its the best you can buy.
My car hardly looks "ghetto". I like dark tint.
Maybe silver or the gradient tints that are mentioned above aren't seen on nicer cars and don't look so good, but to say black tint is "ghetto" is rediculous. Most people have what is legal in their state and if they could would probably choose to go darker.
I might add I have an exemption from the Texas Dept. of Public Safty for the tint because my son is limited to the time he can be exposed to sun.
If I could, I would go lighter but regardless, done right in high quality, black tint does not look "ghetto".
I've never heard that before.

Bottom line, use the tint that looks and works best for you.

I had 5% all the way around. It was nice during the day but at night it was kinda harry. It's hard to see padestrians walking when making turns. So I kept the 5% in the rear and went with 20% on the doors. Looks good and I can see out at night.

I went with 5% in the rear and 35% on the side. 35% was the darkest I could get on the sides with the tint I used. The tint I got was the Pinnacle series from Formula One. It comes with a lifetime warranty. I've been very satisfied with the way it looks and the amount of heat it reduces. It comes in handy for the Texas summers.

I have the premium charcoal tints 17% all the way around. I would go to the eye dr first and get a prescription for it cause I get pulled for it all the time and have to show the prescription
