V1. I love that I can send it in for a "squirt" of new technology for pretty cheap. No need to buy a whole new detector with the latest tech. Arrows are awesome too!

I have a Beltronics and am very happy with it. As long as I live I'll never understand why the arrows are important. I don't really care if the cop is in front, behind, left, right, or sitting in the Dairy Queen - if my radar detector is going off I'm slowing down until it stops going off.

I guess some folks are just more anxious to floor the gas again as quickly as possible.

I bet you think cell phone talking and texting messaging while driving is OK as it does not "kill" innocent folks. But they are more unsafe on the road as they are "obstacles" with no clue as to their surroundings. I would prefer to dodge a drunk or a speeder than someone involved in that important phone call/message. Either way it is not the car or speed that kills but instead the behavior of the individual operating the vehicle and their skill sets and how much respect they have for those around them and more importantly for themselves.

Why I am sure some people have been killed sitting on the sofa not exercising and consuming mass quantities of fattening foods so lets outlaw "killer" food.

Exactly!!! you hear Ka and you can bet your **** it is no false alarm. I immediately knock it down and just look around, the heat is very close by. I love my Bel Rx65 pro so much, I put one in each of the 3 vehicles I drive. 100% reliable they are NOT, but using prudent judgement in your driving habits and having a good detector is key in avoiding many tickets. OTOH... don't speed. Yeah right.

I have a beltronics and yes it saved me many, many times but then let me down hard. It had not beeped and I am on on desert back road. Your driveway has more traffic than this road. My detector goes to the wall and very shortly a CHP pops out of a depression. 79 in a 55 and boy am I gonna kill a lot of people out here. Posting a pic of the road. Convince me that you can drive a Corvette at 55 MPH. Visibility is 100 miles the next town is 50 miles.

I read up on detectors again and found the Valentine has 313% more distance that is what I needed.

If you need it for this weekend, delivery time may be a factor... you can pick up the Escort 8500/9500 locally at any Best Buy. I think you have to order the Valentine; I don't think they sell them through any retailer.

Cheers,

What a waste of a Corvette. You should trade for a Cobalt.

Exceeding the gov't mandated speed limit on a particular road, under different conditions, is not at all reckless or for you to decide. How's that hope and change workin' for ya?

I have Valentine 1 in both Corvettes, hardwire it and turns on and off with the ignition switch.

That said remember that you need to mount any radar detector as high in the windsheild as you can as the range increases with the square of the height above the ground.

Another vote here for Escort - - and by a former LEO - -

Learn to use the search feature with keywords: Valentine, Escort, Beltronics . . . .you'll find lots of opinions and more reading than you can handle.

there's really no right answer - -

Well, if you believe all speed limits are reasonable, fair and proper at all times, and if you trully believe that "speed kills" rather than many, many factors far more important, such as using a cell phone when driving, or being distracted with out-of-control children and pets, or not being totally focused on driving rather than many other distractions such as smoking cigarettes or eating and drinking while driving, then this might be considered a reasonable statement. However, having driven on the autoban at speeds that would be deemed totally excessive any place in these United States, and being completely safe in doing so, I think you might wish to rethink your attitude towards radar detectors. In most places the speed limit for a tow truck hauling a fully loaded semi-trailer truck, or a truck hauling an oversized prefabricated home, and that for a C6 Corvette are absolutely identical. If you think this is "reasonable and proper", then stay with your pompous attitude. Otherwise, consider that 49 of 50 states consider radar detectors "legal" for good reasons.

If you travel mostly on Interstates in non urban areas then the V1, in urban environments get the 9500ix.

Still does not help against laser though, only jammers will help there.

I have tried everything out there getting a new model every 12-18 months. 4 years ago i broke down and got a V1. Now they are in every car we own, including the kids. Arrows and numbers are the best.

One thing, I travel quite a bit and in the last 18 months I have seen more innovation to catch speeders than I could have ever imagined. Unmarked cars, cars speeding to lead you into a speed trap, etc. Watch out for cars with heavy window tint. A month ago I traveled across Georgia We saw a car pulled over about every 15 miles. No Joke. Radar detector or not, you better use your noggin. In this environment the arrows and numbers beat lights and a beeper every day.

I honestly don't understand why so many of you guys worry about getting the "BEST" radar detector.. ???

I've never had one in my life... & I guess you could call me "Lucky" because I have done my share of going a little over the posted speed.. but I've"NEVER" gotten a speeding ticket...I'm just very polite, & courteous, and explain ..."Yes Officer I may have been going a little over the limit, but I honestly thought I was only 5 or 10 over"...

They usually say.. "OK.. just take it a little easier next time" & I reply "YES SIR" !

Again... maybe I'm just Lucky....
