Convince me that you can drive a Corvette at 55 MPH. Visibility is 100 miles the next town is 50 miles.

I read up on detectors again and found the Valentine has 313% more distance that is what I needed.
If there is nothing in the road ahead of you, and the cop waits until he sees you before he "shoots" his radar, no detector will save you. My Beltronics has given me 2-3 miles warning several times. I can't ask for any more than that.

I'll bet you think that the new health bill will solve our problems much better than the free market, too.

How can you be so critical? There is responsible driving and irresponsible driving, based on a lot of factors. If you're on an 8 lane open hwy with no one else on it, couldn't you open er up and not endanger anyone? Assuming you know how to handle your car.

How about using the power of the car to more safely merge, and possibly exceed the limit for 10 seconds?

While you're at it, how irresponsible is it of the German govt to let people do 200+ mph on the Autobahn?

How about passing a car going 35 in a 50, and you have to go 60 to do it safely, and clear as fast as possible?

Or, on an interstate where the limit is 70, and everyone else is doing 80-85 (I15 in CA), the safest to keep up with traffic, but why can't you protect yourself from a ticket?

I'll bet you that Vette drivers are way safer than most no matter what speed they're doing.

True, because none can beat a stop watch and two lines, or pass an unmarked police car by mistake.

I got pulled over for speeding in my Corvette once, 73 in a 60. He looked all around the windshield real close. I got away with a warning because I told him the truth. I was not feeling good, just passed a truck going below the limit and forgot to reset my cruise. I was having cold sweats and I showed him my GPS that had Walgreens and my hotel already programmed in.

Based on reviews I've read, I bought the Escort Passport 9500ix.
I rarely use it though.

I have an older Passport 8500 x50. It's saved me a few times and let me down a few times too.

As mentioned earlier, if a cop is hidden and waits for you to close in and then pops his gun on, you're screwed.

Laser detection is still not reliable. On my passport I've been popped with laser before and it didn't even go off. I had it mounted properly at a nice height pointing parallel to the road.

Another problem I had one time was listening to music too loudly and concentrating on the road and I didn't even notice my radar detector going off. Another ticket....

After a while I just toned it down and now I rarely find myself going over the speed limit and voila..no more tickets. I had to get over the "holy **** I just bought a corvette and it's fast" phase of my life. But it still comes in handy for spirited drives with other Corvettes!

Hi All
I had a Escort for a little over 2 years never worked real well sent it in to get it checked they found a bad solder joint on the antenna and charged a repair charge of $$$ When i got it back it worked MUCH MUCH better for 8 to 10 months and then when back to the way it was before the repairs. I called the service department was told they would check it out for $$$ I explained to them that it was doing the same thing as before to which i was told they saw the record in the computer BUT was out of warrantee and would be a charge to check and repair. The rep said they could offer me a trade in for the newest model The trade amount was not even 20% of what i paid for the new coast only a few years earlier. I once again explained the service problems from day one They told me that was the best they would do. I thanked them and hong up.
Then called and ordered a Valentine 1 worked grate from day one and
still works like new. If it ever needs repairs or updating there is a predetermined minimal charge. So for me it is Valentine all the way

9500ix for many reasons. GPS, Redlight cameras, Updates by USB on your computer, Low false alerts, plus if you drive by the same CVS or gas stations, etc. it will lock them out after 3 passes.

LESS FALSE ALERTS by far.

IMHO: The V1 is a great detector but the company seems to be living in the past. They don't seem to be puttng money in R&D.

If you have a smart phone, such as an iphone, blackberry, etc., you can download "trapster". It is a gps enabled application that people upload known radar traps, red light cams, etc. to. Then it notifies you when you get in an area that has been uploaded. The more people that use it the better it gets. If I am traveling and see stationary enforcement two clicks on the phone uploads my location to trapster. That upload is recorded then used to warn other drivers as they enter that area. Then they can confirm there is enforcement there. Each user is rated on the reliablility of their uploads to cut out on false alarms. It has worked great for me the last few months. Oh, and it is free. Just do a search for it, there is alot of information on thier web site.

PS: V1 with invisacord in my Z.

Agree 110%

we have had Valentine 1 in five cars and will not start the car without the Valentine 1 being active.

To us the arrows are worth every dollar of the costs. In addition the range of the Valentine 1 is excellent, out west some distances for picking up radar signals is as much as 9 miles.

The shifters on the front need to be moved out from behind the grille. They will get you pawned where they are, the ZR4's are weak at best and without optimal mounting you are very vunerable to lidar.

Take a look at where my heads are installed for a better location.

The rest of the install has been completely redone but the heads remain in the same location.
