Default My Corvette Destroyed

UPDATE,
Thanks for all the support I have recieved.
We have cleaned out the house, everyone has been working day and night, I am so tired, I have not worked this hard in years. A crew started tearing out the drywall yesterday. We have to take out 4 ft high and replace. I will spray fungicide on all of the wood tomorrow. We will start replacing interior next week. We still have alot to get done, new heat and air system and duct work, water heater, have electric checked, etc.
I have already started looking for my new Corvette. I have found 1 that I like. I am looking for atleast a 2008 3LT with Nav. I might go back to black, maybe. They look good but are so hard to keep clean. The silver is so easy. The car that I have found is a 2008 Z51, 3LT,Nav,Vert loaded with 6 speed, very low miles. I had an automatic and liked it but I think I will go back to a stick.
I will keep everyone updated.

Thanks,
Phil

Hello Corvette Family,
Here in TN around the Nashville area we have had major flooding. My beautiful Corvette was totaled with water damage. Water went over the top. When the water came up I got the car out of the garage and to higher ground. It was raining so hard. All of a sudden the water started rising even higher. I went to my car and I guess the fob was wet and the car would not react. I even put the fob in the slot in the glove box and nothing. The water overtook it and it is history. The insurance will cover it and hopfully treat me right, except for all the mods. Not only did I lose a beautiful car but the Corvette world lost a great machine.
I will be looking for a newer, nicer Corvette soon.

Our home also recieved about 3 ft of water in it. I am still in shock over what just happened, and I am a very strong minded and positive person. Our place turned into a lake, and it is 25 acres. We also have Quarter Horse facilitys and around 20 horses in the barn. We barely got them all out. The last 10 were lead out by a rider on a horse, you could not walk in the current. The water was 5 ft at that time.
I do still feel lucky to be alive and my family safe. I can buy another car and rebuild my house and ranch.
Another thing, the insurance states that they will not pay for anything except the 3 cars and 2 trucks we lost. I do not get it. We do not live in a flood plane and can not buy flood insurance. I will be working on that and see what is out there as far as federal disaster programs.

I have also been blessed and amazed by the people that have come to help. I have had corvette people, horse people, friends, neighbors, people I do not even know, without asking to come and help us out.
I have always said that there were still good hearted people in the world today and I have met alot of them.
I am greatful to everyone

Very sorry to hear about your situation. I don't know which is worse, flood or fire. Both are dishartening, but at least a fire would be covered by insurance.

Sorry to hear about your loss. That was a terrible storm for certain. I was in Nashville that day and could not believe how bad it was. Hopefully you have no problems with getting your house back into shape. Good luck with everything.

I had my C5 totalled in a coastal flood so I know how it feels. Good luck with getting the claim resolved and hope to see you back in a Vette soon.

if that water came up that fast, you really are lucky to be alive. five feet of moving or rushing water is nothing to be trifled with. I think the stat is 4 or 5 inches of water will float a car away. good luck and I hope all gets rebuilt and replaced. maybe in a new location as this one has already proven what it can do to you, flood plain or no flood plain.

I have a friend in Franklin and I've been following the flooding there.

Sorry to hear about your loss but it could be worse - you can always replace a car

I'm sorry for your losses and I admire your attitude!

As a 'horse person' I'm especially glad you got the horses out safely. As an aside, I often equate Corvette ownership to owning a horse. Over the years, I've met many great people and done many wonderful things as a result of the horse...things I'll venture to say the average person will never do. Owning a Corvette is similar. I've met many outstanding people as a result of owning a Corvette and I do some wild and fun things with the car (which some people dream about doing and never do).

I'm not surprised to hear Corvette and horse people came to help you. In general, that's the way they are (and the way it should be). I hope everything works out well with the insurance and you get your life back to normal quickly!

Where you the guy that was on TV with the Corvette Racing shirt on? I also live in Nashville and fortunately I have a home on high ground. I had a little damage but not much. We could not leave the house as the surrounding streets like Edmondson Pike were flooded. My rain gage was emptied twice and both times it held 6" of rain. Good luck with your claims!

We've been watching the news on TV over the past few days and it's difficult to comprehend just how devastating and wide spread the flood coverage is.

I am very sorry for your set-back. Glad you were able to get out of there unharmed, unfortunately a lot of folks weren't so lucky. Hope your home can be repaired, and glad you got the horse's onto save ground. Good Luck.

Terrible. Sorry to hear what the flooding has cost you. Hope you get a fair value on your vette and house damage and for it to be resolved quickly. Main thing, you and the family are safe.
