They still look stupid and cheap. At least the FRC's cover up the wiring and piping running around the heads. The caliper covers just say "hey look I have Z06 brakes, just kidding they be fake" Why not screw some fake heat extacters to the front fenders, put some chrome tape on the B pillar and put some spinners from autozone that look like beanie hats on your vette too.
caliper covers $225. Big brake kit -$2,500 + install cost! your math teacher needs to be fired! I do like the BB kit, just not worth the cost in my eyes...

hey Bryan, I just looked up your mods...Why did you replace your stock wheels? Chrome does not make your car run any better, and the factory wheels must have been lighter! I'll be nice, but you mod your car your way, and let others do it their way! The ole, "for each his own" thing applies here. Hey, I did get my air freshener form Auto zone!

His chrome wheels are not trying be something they're not (they are wheels after all). Caliper covers are trying to look like a BBK.
With that said, people are free to mod in what ever way they choose (good or bad).

Well you know they sell those fake mag hubcaps at wally world...those would totally eliminate brake dust and would be super easy to keep clean...what are we thinking...and all for 24 bucks too...
A perfect match for caliper covers...oops..no they would cover the covers that cover the calipers...
Hey $225.... $2500???? I did say they were a "bit" more expensive
But on a serious note, most customers forget just how important brakes really are. Everyone wants big horsepower, but they seem to forget there is always an end to every wide open stretch of road worth speeding on
Hey guys, lighten up. I started this thread to get some general information, not a lecture on your likes or dislikes. I've had 3 vetts and like most, put my share of modds on them to dress them up. I'm not trying to make it something it isn't. I like the way the covers look as apposed to the stock caliper. I bought the one's labeled with corvette and with my new black conv. I think they will look sharp. I was hoping to get some ideas on easy ways to install. I've heard thru some folks that it can be done without removing the wheels. That was what I was hoping to find out thru the forum. I appreciate everyones opinion, but I have mine and it seems like others on this forum have one too.
If you buy the big brake kit...than those guys will just say..."its a wannabe Z06"...so for 1700 less you can still get the..."Its a wannabe Z06" it a tuff choice...but yes, you can install them with the wheel on...all you do is park the car with the caliper in full veiw and put on the bottom clip 1st and then slide the cover through the wheel...I covered mine with Blue Painters tape so it did not scratch...and than put on the top clip...tighting all screws down and check for clearence...If you have any squeeling check where it is coming from and adjust that side? They are proudly made in the U.S.A

DAYUM, that ****'s got six exhaust pipes! Must be fast.
Anyways, I'm not as opposed to these as everyone else appears to be. I wouldn't do them, but I don't think they're a bad idea. The problem with the ones pictured is that they try to give the appearance of six piston calipers. If they made smaller covers (that looked slightly nicer) then I might consider them, and I'll tell you why. It's not as though it's a 'poser' thing to do because in truth (if you own a Z51) you do have a BBK, you've just got ugly calipers. 13" cross-drilled rotors are actually quite impressive. GM should've invested slightly more, or even charged us slightly more and included nicer looking calipers on the Z51. But they didn't.
yes, I have the Z51 and with the black color, and red caliper covers with corvette stamped on them, it looks sharp. I appreciate the info. everyone's contributed.
I've put on a couple set of these caliper covers on a few vettes at work and only one word can describe them.... FAIL
They are beyond ugly, but hey to each their own.
Fits right in with all the cheesy chrome accents, i thought i would get away from all that tacky crap by moving to a corvette but its just as bad if not worse than mustang community LOL.
Yup, those fake calipers are laughable to anyone who is a sports car enthusiasts (well, besides the guys who actually put them on......). I was hoping they would see the light with these threads but it's obvious they have chosen their own path. In any matter,

I'd be interested in general info, too, not opinions on likes / dislikes. What can I say? I think red brakes would look nice, and for me, it's not about posing, it's about color. I would like to know if they affect performance (heat?) or not, and perhaps which ones worked well.

Reason: sp
The fake caliper is just too out of proportion to the brake disc. And, it really doesn't fool anyone except the hopelessly clueless. And it doesn't even look good, IMO.
Anyone remember fake car phone antenna's back in the 80's? Same concept.
