I was actually assaulted on the road once years ago. I had a Lancia Beta Coupe, nice very cool sporty Italian car with a sound that would make your spine tingle (same issues as the Vette). I was coming home very late one night on a back road in southern Maine driving at a nice clip. I came up upon a jacked up pickup truck doing about 10 under the speed limit. I was on a long curved double yellow line but it was a clear shot around him and I just skirted him. I was gone in a flash and just enjoying the turns on the road. A few miles up the road I came into the town area with a 30 mph limit and slowed. Out of nowhere, this guy in the truck came up at me from the rear at high speed (been trying to catch me for 3 miles), he went around me cut in front hitting my drivers side front fender and stopped. I was completely stunned. Out jumped this very large black bearded guy who pulled my door open and ripped me out of the car. He started to strangle me with a head lock. I could not get a shot at him at all and knew I was going to be killed if I didn't do something. So I reached around and grabbed his hair and started to pull clumps of it out, handfuls at a time. He was in so much pain that he loosened his grip on me and that was when I turned on him and pounded his head into the side of his truck until he was nearly out.... several cars stopped and pulled me off him. He got up and into his truck and took off, I was still dazed having been choked. The cops were looking for him and never found the guy.....
You cannot be too careful out there, especially at night! Some of these people out there are really nuts. And I tend to try to keep a low profile when out late now.
Put some guys in a pickup truck with a big motor and they think they can dart around like driving one of those little four cylinder skateboards. They are the type that pull up as close as possible at the stoplight. Sometimes its hard not to ignore the grill in the rear view mirror. They make it seem like all truck drivers are jerks, but they aren't.
I drive as I would without them there, just like when the SUV decides to take off and beat me off the line. Good bye. I'll save the power for when I want to apply it and when it is no threat to anyone else.
They either respect them or have to screw around with them usually the latter especially if its' a younger driver. Most of my experience is the kids out to prove something against the vette but it's not all the time.
I just love when the rice burners try to get you worked up at a light, and then I just take off normally. There is nothing to prove and I don't need to waste my gas. N.Illinois sucks traffic-wise, everyone is in a hurry and traffic on the tollways usually is 15-20 mph over. I go with the flow and keep my Escort on always. I have had people almost run me over as I'm trying to slow down for a cop with radar ahead. They fly by you and sometimes I get to smile when they are on the side with a little something from Johnny Law! I have had more Cops follow me in the Vette.

It appears that you live in California where there is no concealed carry allowed, and the politicians led me to believe that no legal guns meant there would be no danger for the law abiding people. Or is there something wrong in that logic?
The aggressive behavior could occur anywhere. In Missouri, we would be allowed to defend our life against what we believe is a threat upon our life. Can't cross into Illinois though. They are a lot like California. Self-protection is bad there too.
Mostly I find that people slow down alot on the highway if they are going to pass me.....it used to bother me but then I realized that many were just admiring the car or letting their kids do the same...it is kind of a pain when they come up and then stay right in the blind spot for a while. Its not a common car here like in the big city...Utah has one of the lowest % of Corvettes in the USA.

Sorry. I'm off topic.
I always feel so safe when I go to California to visit family because I know that criminals there are not allowed to have guns....
You don't want to come to the Republik of CA the bankrupt state of chaos.
We have the craziest drivers plus everyone carries guns in their cars legal or not
So if they don't use their car as a weapon against your Corvette they might shoot you. Road rage is rampant here and a common everyday occurence.
Just too many crazies in cars out on the road.
And we pay top $$$$ for all of this real estate, food, gas to be here?

That never stopped the criminals (CCW) and coo coo birds from carrying guns.

Kalifornia Highway Patrol does this. Wish I had a cloaking device. Will have to beam some Klingons aboard and do install over weekend.

It never ceases to amaze me when I have people following me at a high rate of speed and suddenly slow because the RD goes off and they don't get the hint.
When the shiny red Corvette drops quickly to PSL there has to be a reason!!
I am wondering if this happens to other Vette drivers or if it's a 'local' problem around Northern New England. However quite often I find that people driving behind me when doing nothing other than minding my own business while cruising down the highway, will exhibit a lot of harassing, aggressive behavior; tail-gating, running up fast on me then backing off only to run right back up on me as if they are going to hit me, swerving around at me, you name it. It's not every time I go out in the Vette, but it's far too often and I really don't like it. And it's not limited to male drivers! I had a female in an SUV after me today. What is wrong with these nut cases?
My buddy who had an 07 Z06 said the same crap happened to him all the time and it has been like this with all Vettes I have owned, 68,80,04,07 and the new 2010 GS.
Anyone else seeing this kind of activity while out in the Vette?
Here in Southern California, I drive the 110, and 105 daily, and ocassional trips into Orange County... I have found that the Prius, bimmer and mini van drivers are the most agressive and hostile towards me, and for no reason. As far as tailgating and trying to push me out of my lane, the prius drivers are the worst...

Yup, we are pretty much dog meat here... almost time to take up a collection from our forum brothers and sisters... Arnold (the wimp with orange hair) ripped everyone here a new one and in essence has gotten away with murder like his... you know who
I think it is standard procedure no matter what you drive in Utah but I don't care about the people behind me. Heck tapping the brakes usually wakes them up. If they really **** me off I'll just drive slower, especially if I'm on a two lane road where they can't pass.
I notice my yellow vette makes all the other cars around me faster... little crap cars, 20 year old import pickups trailing a stream of burnt oil, heck even white haired grandmas in SUV's want to pass...
or maybe I'm just more conscious of my speed when I'm in my yellow vette...
I have had the same issues you described here in Socal, particularly following to close. It does not matter if I have no where to go, or I am in the slow lane, someone will get right on me. I never have these issues in my other vehicles. I can't figure what the thought process is: are the other driver's jealous, or are they trying to impress me with their driving "skills", maybe since I'm in a Vette they think I should be going real fast!
