Hi guys. I'm brand new to the forum. Also getting ready to be a new vette owner for the first time since '82 when I let go of my '64 convertible. Been wanting another vette since.
I was all set to pull the trigger on a triple black 2010 GS conv. until I got a glimpse of the new supersonic blue 2011. About to drive myself crazy on the color selection. What do ya' think?
I've only seen pics but I like it, so far. But I'd bet close to a majority here have said they don't like it, not enough color. I think it's another one of those colors that has to be in the sun to look really good. Did you see the pics here that were posted from the Bash in April?
Everyone is different...triple black is just tooo much black for me. As for the new blue-saw it on display at Laguna Seca ALMS race...I didn't like it--looks like a girlyman grey (I love DSMO, appreciate and would own AO but hate the new orange-go figure)...but to each his own. Buy what YOU like as that is what matters most.
We had a really good and patient sales-person. He knew Corvettes and had been selling them for many years.
We started out looking at Triple Black GS, then decided on Torch Red GSVert... Changed back to black..... Guess what. We ended up with Cyber Gray and never looked back!
Absolutely the best decision we could have made. A real head-turner!
This probably didn't help, but at least I got if off my chest!
I'm in the group that says you buy one black car and never buy another one. They look
awesome when they are freshly washed waxed. A couple hours later and until you wash it again they look dirty and dingey.... black shows dirt bigtime....
My color choice is Magnetic Red.....they don't make it anymore which is preventing me from buying me a new one.....
Go look at your favorite colors at a dealership, ideally in both shade and bright sunlight. I wasn't really crazy about Monterey Red until I saw it in bright sunlight.
I saw a bunch of SSB pics on a thread a few days ago, try searching for supersonic blue and you might find it.
I agree with others about the black, I recently sold a black car, and I'll never buy another. Looked awesome freshly washed, but way to hard to keep looking good. In my opinion the supersonic blue is a nice color but one I would envision on a sedan, not a vette.
I saw several Supersonic Blue 2011s at the C5/C6 bash at the museum and absolutely fell in love with the color. It's not "loud" which to me is a plus. It's not so dark that it will be high maintenance and it glistens beautifully in the sun. You may have already seen these but here they are again, just in case.

I'm on my 4th black car... Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment. It's not THAT bad. Something that I never knew about (maybe I just didn't pay attention) was a California Duster. If you keep the car otherwise clean it will get the dust off in about 5 minutes before you go out for a drive and it will look perfect. I can go a good while between actual washings.
I haven't seen the Supersonic Blue in person but it would be high on my list for consideration. I personally think a SSB convertible would look great with a tan top and Cashmere interior... That would be one classy looking car!
Whatever floats your boat or blows your skirt up is what you should get...
Only pics I have seen were the ones posted here. they said it was an overcast day, so don't know how diffierent it may look in the sun
If you've been THIS LONG without a Vette, take your time-=-----go look at the color you're thinking of. Don't buy it based on pictures.
I just recently looked at a color that, on that particular brand new, at the dealer car, it looked like panels had been repainted in bright sun! Reason? The panels curve, and when the sun hits it just right, the rear looks darker than the doors. My friend who was with me agreed.

SS blue is the same color thats is offered on a pickup trk. I like it i have a cyber gray z06 but would like to see SS blue in person. But that said what ever rocks your boat. Black is a bitch to clean and keep it nice even if its a garage queen ever swirl scratch shows.

Are you really gonna base your color decision on what others like? Your the one driving it. Which one 'pops' for you?
Don't get hyped abt catchy descriptions such as 'Supersonic' or the former 'Atomic' etc. That's part of marketing strategy to sell cars. Whichever color you decide on make sure it's the right one or you will regret it later.
