The hinge on the mirror that is mounted on the passenger sun visor (on my C6) is broken. Is it necessary to replace the entire sun visor, or can the vanity mirror assembly be replaced? Is GM the only/best source?
The visor has to be replaced. If your car is out of warranty It's an expensive job. It's hard to believe gm is still using plastic hinged door. I,m on my 3rd one on my'08.
Yes, unfortunately you have to purchase a new one. If you need assistance with new, please let me know as I would be happy at the opportunity to earn your business.
When you get the new one, put a drop of lube on the hinges to keep it from happening again.
Somebody once posted that he put some "oil" on his hinges and they deteriorated. That sounds weird, I use a tiny dab of Dielectric Silicone Grease with no problems.

I am looking for the best price on a driver's side sun visor with vanity mirror for my C6.
Both of mine are broken. Once I get in there to start doing the radio bezel and center console cushion I'm going to remove them and cover up the holes.
What is going on here? Several of us have broken hinges at the same time.
Kinda like that fuse block cover that was not available til everyone started having broken hinges, now there available. Maybe someone will get the idea that these should be available too. Funny how the market works, build it and they will purchase!
Mine just broke off today. Did you guys have any issues with it draining your battery? I don't need that issue as I have an 05 and finally got rid of that stupid priority start that was making things even worse. I just don't want to deal with a dead battery from this cheap visor.

No problems, I just had the electrical plugs pulled so there is no lights in the visor.
Mine have also broke.
I did a repair using velcro cut into small pieces on the corners.
Then I cut small strips mount them next to to broken hinge.
This works fine. You just have to pull the cover a little to get the velcro to release at the corners. At least I can still have the lights work and didn't have to spend 250 for 2 complete visors.
Anyone else have another method please let me know.
