I went out to move the car this rather cold morning (for north Texas). Door didn't want to open, as if it were frozen. I noticed the window wasn't coming down slightly as it normally would when I pushed the door button (same for the passenger window). I got the door open, and both windows worked normally with buttons. They would also now go DOWN when I pushed the door button, but would not go back up when I closed the door.
Indexing, as described in this post, fixed the problem.
After a power reconnect such as battery replacement, the
window index-up feature will not function until the system
is initialized. Once power is restored, do the following:
1. Close the door.
2. Raise the window by pulling up the switch.
3. Hold the up switch for three seconds after the
window is closed. Release the switch.
4. Hold the up switch again for three seconds and
release.
Remember to do both windows.
This is called resetting of the window indexing or power window initialize and is in the owner's manual. See page 2-17 of the 2005 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2006 owner’s manual, page 87 of the 2007 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2008 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2009 owner's manual, page 3-18 of the 2010 owner's manual, page 2-18 of the 2011 owner's manual, or page 2-19 of the 2012 owner's manual.
do you need to hit acc or have the engine running or does just getting in supply power to the windows? I know power stays on when you turn off the engine after driving until you open a door. Thx (noob question)

If you're resetting the window indexing, you need to have the door shut, the engine running, and the window all the way down to start the process.

Not sure if indexing is my problem. I installed new driver window regulator. window only goes up about 4 inches and stops. Since I have not been able to adust the window, I am hesitant to close door and try to raise window with indexing procedure. Thoughts?

You have to connect the regulator motor, even with the door panel removed, to make the regulator work correctly. The glass will not be that far out of whack that it will hurt anything. You can stop the window if it's going too high.
Sorry for the two posts. I had noticed that you had answered early morning in the other post and I was anxious to get this solved. So you cannot test the regulator until you fully assemble the door panel. But closing the door did it. And I had remounted the window in the old marks and it is closing great with no further adjustments. Thanks.

I've always hold up for 3 seconds then down for 3 seconds...Works also.
Thank you so much for posting instructions. I've read in the past folks complaining about having to go through the hassle of re-indexing the windows. Wow. Hassle??? I just re-set mine in a whopping 30 seconds.
Gotta love the forum!
It's hard to find in the owner's manual if you don't know what it's called.

Had to get a new battery today and was on the run. Googled: "2006 corvette battery window" and this thread was at the top.
Thank you so very much as this was a really quick fix without having to do a lot of digging!!!
Battery died and I used a trickle charger to see if I can get this one to work! It worked awesome! But now, window won’t index. I’ve tried it abou 50 times and it never worked.
Currently, my window sits 1/4 inch from the top. I just want it closed. Is it possible to close it manually until I can get the window fixed?
Window goes all the way down and 99% up. So I’d say everything seems to be fine other than the window indexing.
