Should I tint the windows??

Burning Brakes
I just picked up a very low mile 2005. She is black on black. I am thinking about having the windows tinted tomorrow but was suprised to see how many do not tint their black vettes.
Should I do 20%, 35% or just leave it be? I will be doing all three windows if I decide to go for it.
Thanks for the help.

I have been putting it off for the same reasons. The shops I have talked to (on the phone) all say no problem, they know how to do it and they have done Vettes before. None has produced a reference and there have been a number of horror stories of bad installations on the Forum. I'm not saying they can't do it correctly but I'm leery of taking the chance.

You will be happy with 35% all the way around. Looks sexy on black and you can still see driving at night. I have had many cars tinted 35% and never had any problems with the local law enforcement here in Michigan.
20% is way too dark, cant see much when night driving, especially backing up!

I picked up an 05' Yellow Vette from Dallas Texas - and drove it back to Toronto, Ontario -C.A.N.A.D.A. where I live.
I have been debating the issue myself: To tint or not too?
I was going to tint - but I love it when I pull up to the lights and someone looks into my car to see whose driving.. It just really boosts my ego to see that..
I love the look of tinited windows - but I don't think I'm going to do it anymore.

I had it done this morning. The guy I talked with said he would do it until it was perfect. The rear only took two tries and the whole car looks awesome. Lifetime warranty and only cost me $150!
I did 5% on the rear and 18% on the fronts. Looks about perfect. I will get some pictures up soon.

Just keep in mind that when you tint your windows you generally make LE "nervous" they will be more prone to pulling you over,I know I was when patroling Harlem for ten years.Just make sure they can see you inside or roll your windows down if you get pulled over..

Just be careful how dark you tint, especially if you drive a lot at night. Go to dark and it's really difficult to see out. If ya need to know how it will effect visibility....just put on a pair of sun glasses and drive at night.
Tinted windows look good on all colors.

I would tint but would not go too dark on the side windows as it makes it more difficult to see around you at night. Here are a couple of links that I found that will tell you what the laws are for your state. Remember that most all auto windows have some tint from the factory and you will need to factor that into what percentage of film you are going to use to stay within the legal limits of your state.

Dark tint on a black C6 seems to make the car. Another point to consider is darker you go the more privacy you have.
I have 20% all the way around and with the tint in the windows from the factory comes to 17%...Thanks to Frederick County VA Sherriff Dept. I didn't know that.
BTW-VA is 50% for the side windows

17%!!!!!! I got pulled over in the truck, and this young cop says, "Are your windows PAINTED black- I said, well no. He was like OK, but hope some of the other cops dont pull you over. He was WAY cool!!!
(Of course, when I got pulled over, I dropped the windows and put both hands out. That way, the cop knows 1. I know I am in the wrong and am being very compliant, or 2. I am a raging felon who has been down this road MANY times! Being that number 1 is the case- no tickets so far, and havent been yanked in the vette for tint yet...)
50%- Thats like a dusty window!!!!
