I have a Boyo reverse camera that is built into the top of the license plate frame. I forgot the actual part number, but it is only about 6 month old. I have a Kenwood GPS deck, so it not quite the same as what you are doing with the stock Nav system. Overall, I have been happy with the unit, but there are a few things to consider when looking for a camera and one problem that I discovered.
1) Camera Display Angle: I have a very wide camera angle which is good from the standpoint of maximizing the field of view. The problem of this wide angle is that the depth perception is kind of off. It is almost like the warning on the passenger side rear view mirror where it says "objects are closer than they appear". I wanted the wide view initially, but looking back, I think I should have got one with better depth perception and a slightly narrower field of view. Some cameras also offer a "grid" display so you can get better perspective, mine did not.
2) Camera Display Speed: The car stereo shop that did the installation had many types of cameras. Some were these very trick digital devices that had multiple angles and split screens that could be selected by a push of a button. The problem (to me) with these cameras was that there was a noticeable delay between when my hand went in front of the camera to when it register on the screen. I did not time it, but it may have been like one second or so. This was too slow to me, I would be concerned that someone or something would go behind me and I would not see it even though it was there.
3) Mounting Location: The C6 Corvette has the hatch push button and the key hole to manually open the rear hatch in the event of a battery failure just above the rear plate. Rear camera can interfere with either or both of these functions. In my case, the Car Stereo shop relocated the key mechanism a few inches to the right of the existing location, so I could open the hatch without bumping into the camera. It works fine in that location. The rear hatch button access is fine.
The only problem I have discovered is that my particular camera seems to be causing noise in the AM radio reception of my deck. The AM/FM antenna is right there on the rear frame of the car. The video cable runs right next to the AM antenna as it goes to the front of the car. I tried to shield the video cable coming out of the camera with copper tape and grounded it to the ground point in the bumper, but the noise is still there. The other radio signals are not affected (FM and XM). The shop I used has never seen this issue before on the other cars that use this same camera (the owner has this on two of his cars) but this was the first C6 that he put this camera on. If I ever pull the deck, I will try to shield and ground the cable going into the back of the deck to see if that helps.
I hope this helps, or at least gives you some things to consider. Good luck with your installation.
I ordered a Passport SRX with laser shifters. The rear laser dector is mounted on the top side of the license plate. So no rear camera on the plate for me.
I just received the reverse camera from China. It took two weeks to arrive. The body is Metal Which is never the case as plastic is usually what you get for a backup camera body. The part came with a hole saw for drilling the 25mm hole. I tested it today with my hand held GPS and it looks great. The parking grid lines are there and I will have to determine exactly where on the bumper to mount the camera. Since the camera hole is round I can adjust the position of the camera once installed.
I have been looking at this for a minute.I have reserched it. As soon as i get the money i will be getting one .Thanks for the info on the camera with the lines.I have the factory nav on my 2010.They have a lockpick kit for camera and ipod to go to the screen so i can have a backup camera and have my ipod adapter in the armrest like the 2011 do.Thanks again.

You will have to tap the power from the rev lights. I did it on my C5 and it worked great. I got the heat shrink electric barrel connectors and retaped up the wiring harness when I did mine.
I have heard that the camera feature will be mandatory in a few years on new cars just like the tire pressure monitors.
If the C7 isn't out by then, it will be interesting to see how GM puts the camera in the C6.
Of course, that's assuming the rule goes through as described. 2014 seems awfully soon for full compliance, usually they argue about it for that long before doing anything.

Some members here already have a camera mounted on front bumper and rear bumper on their C-6. If you don't have NAV. then you have to get a screen and the two cams. The install is a neat fit.
Hear is a pic of the camera view at night. Works well in low light and makes it easy to see objects in the way. Image goes from color in the day to black and white in low light.

Would definitely like to see how good the picture looks on the 2011 nav screen, once you get it all hooked up.
I finished mounting the reverse camera today. I tested the image while mounted and it looks great. Not finished yet with the wiring but wanted to post a pic of the mounted BMW X5 camera on the rear of the C6. I choose the drivers side to mount the camera. I had to grind away a small amount of body to get the required 25mm hole to insert the camera into. So far the install looks OE.
Interesting. How hard is it to run all the wiring?
Only wiring mod needed is to tap the reverse light for power. The video is standard NTSC and a RCA video jack to whatever display you have. I decided to replace the factory NAV with one of the Kenwood units. Waiting to see what comes out of CES this week.
A few more pics of the Camera install. I also am finishing up the radar and front parking sensor installation. Outside is done now just have to run wiring inside to the dash.
Front Radar and Laser (Passport SRX) mounted to underside of frame.
Installed a couple front parking sensors that when switched on inside by me will help keep me from hitting the front airdam against curbs and parking blocks.

Did you ever install this camera? I also have a GS and want it to look like it belongs. If you have installed it . How does it work? Do you get enough spread and night vision etc.
DO you have an updated HU?
Is the camera a good color resolution ?
pros and cons?
