Two year old z51 had original brake pads replaced with ceramics. Did not want to void warranty and use other manufactured parts, so dealer put in delco ceramics.
After about two weeks, can report they are worth the upgrade. No dust on the chrome gumbys and they seem to grab better, are more quiet and smoother than the originals.
Anyone else do this?

You do know there is a reason GM put non-ceramic brakes on the Z-51 option cars, don't you? And when they put ceramic brakes on some less expensive cars it isn't just an economic decision.

Why didn't they put ceramics in Z-51 cars? What else matters besides economics? Durability?

I think you may need to reconsider your position. I put Hawk Pads on my GS after 2600 mi. because the dust from the OEM pads was unacceptable. I've not been on the track yet,but to date the ceramics are a cleaner, rotor friendly, better gripping alternative.

Having said that, I did go with ceramics on my 2008 Z51 and liked them for the street.
I went with the competition grey wheels to avoid replacing them on my GS.
Plus the cost is so much greater on the GS.
Don't throw away your old brake pads, they will buy them here. I just sold my Z51 original pads in less than a day.

I highly recommend,as do the makers of ceramic pads, that you do NOT use them at the track.

The current GS is a vert, without rollbar and fire suppression. Makes it hard to access any track events. So I guess my motive for changing the pads was to reduce the brake dust without giving up braking.
Thanks for the 'heads up' much appreciated

Its a Corvette. A world class sports car. I want pads that can get good and hot and still stop my car in a hurry. I dont mind a little dust. Wanna make an omelet, gotta break some eggs.

On a side note, my ceramics squeal way more than the non ceramics.

As already mentioned, don't even think about running ceramic's for road course track day's, unless planning to pack thing's in early. Know a few guy's who tried it, and not good. Ceramic's are fine for the street, but just so you're aware of their limitation's.
