Hey, thanks for reminding me. Forgot about that. I just might. Heard about it. Audobon road? Not sure where it is, but assume once I get to Channhassen, should figure it out.
This is a symptom of a major cultural problem we have here in the US. Everything is about me! I deserve respect! I need you to never have a negative opinion of me! I need to assert my right to your respect!
Unfortunately, we kind of brought this on ourselves. If you watch our movies and advertisements from yesteryear, you'll cowboys, criminals, cops, and pretty much any male figure fight for respect. The problem is they did not ever show how those men earned that right. They earned that right by WORKING HARD to build a reputation. They gave respect to their neighbors. They worked to do the right thing even when no one was looking. They also tried to earn the respect of their peers by being good at what they do. They spent so much time and effort building this reputation that anyone who tried to threaten it would receive a "spirited" defense of that reputation. This is where that sense of respect comes from, but it was earned. Something people today forget. You do not get anything for free. But in today's America, we are entitled to everything.
Did you see RNC April fools joke video? Just saw it on fox news. We got a chump for POTUS!

Your right, let's impeach the Son of a Bitch.
Or if we get lucky, give him 10 to 20 years behind bars.

This thread is about CORVETTE RAGE not POLITICS!! Take that BS to OT. Why must some people politicize EVERYTHING. No one cares to hear that crap when reading about something TOTALLY different!!
You need to grin and bare folks now days it is part of our society and confrontations can lead to trouble. If needed I will protect myself but would rather avoid a situation if at all possible.
There are a lot of unsuccessful, unhappy people roaming the countryside these days.
The Corvette oozes the exact opposite and the fact that the typical Vette owner/driver has a big ****-eating grin on their face just pi$$es them off even more.
They're looking for someone to blame their troubles on and in the absence of (insert your favorite political pariah here) a happy-go-lucky Vette owner seems an appropriate replacement.
Personally, I'd rather use the gas pedal than a weapon to deal with these losers.

Thank you for pointing that out, last thing I want to read on a Vette forum is politics.
Back on subject.. I've had my vette for a total 8 hours before I experienced exactly what this thread is about. Driving back from the dealership in Kansas City to Lexington, KY.. I get caught on wet roads. Keep in mind this is the first time I've ever driven a 400hp, RWD, 6spd manual tranny car that I just flew 1100 miles to pick up and drive home. To make things worse it has just rained. All I can think about is losing the back end. I'm taking very easy on the far right hand lane, literally doing 54 in a 55mph zone.
Along comes a turbo diesel GMC 2500 pickup on my left hand side.. actually gets right beside me. And lights up the wet tires at about 60mph. I guess I was supposed as how much power his truck has. Im still only halfway home to DC. I'm sure I'll run into another azzhole before I get there.

I rarely have that sort of experience, thankfully in the DC area or in my little town. I do have a rear plate frame that says "Retired US Navy" which may help, or perhaps not. Most people seem to admire the car. I drive conservatively and as a result do not try to stir up any "competitve" instincts.
The vehicles that earned me the most wrath was far from high-end. They were a full-sized van I got around 1982 when my twins were born, and after that a mini-van! I was stationed in CA at the time, and people would do anything to get around me, or cut me off, or pull out in front of me. Now when I say that I drive conservatively, that means I generally only go about 5-7 MPH above the posted speed and stay out of the left lane. I used to drive a PT Cruiser as well -- might as well put a sign on the roof "Please be as rude as possible to this poor ignorant PW'd SOB." (Was the ex-wife's idea to get the PT Cruiser but that is a story for another day.)
Probably not the time for it's use though. Maybe comforting to know it is handy but at the same time false courage could led to more trouble.
These type of situations I try and avoid conversation...having said that I understand all to well how difficult this can be.
A gun handy is not the cure all to minor civil venting.
I always fear escalation in these matters and having a weapon handy, while comforting, may not be the wisest discipline.
While I agree with the sentiment of your post, I cannot agree with the last statement. There is only one situation where I would regret having a weapon. It is where I lost control and used it in a situation where I should not have. The funny thing is in this situation, I am the one with full-control whether it becomes this. In any other case, I would be happy I had my weapon. Sure, it might not escalate, but what if it does? What if they decide to be stupid? There is only one other regrettable situation. If I get shot with my own gun, again in this case, I think it was would be I regret not being able to retain my weapon than regret that I have it. Bottom line is someone who shoots you with your own gun is probably someone who would probably have harmed you in some other way. So, I am glad I at least had an opportunity to defend myself and family.
Anyway, I agree though with I think your main point. A weapon should not be a means to be become aggressive. It does not make you invincible, and it requires great responsibility.
Merely having a weapon can make it so you retain some control of the situation and prevent you from feeling powerless to stop the escalation. I always carry my weapon. I have a holster for my 'Vette already.
Sorry for the long post as this is a passionate point for me.

Of course you are right. We are here to discuss our cars and issues related to our involvement with Corvettes.
However today this greatest nation has been inundated with people who feel that they are justified in invading our space and informing us how we should live, what we cannot do or own, and even what we should or should not drive.
Our Corvette's existence is threatened by political empowerment of those people.
Therefore many discussions of what once was a focused Corvette topic are now impacted directly by the politics of our frustrated, narcissistic, overly-politicized culture.
Some political leakage into these Corvette threads is inevitable.
Perhaps someday it will be 1956 again. although I doubt it.
We here should demonstrate that we can accept some leakage of politics and venting by our fellow Corvette drivers in these times of serious long term consequences.

well said
Im also sick & tired of reading this POLITICAL BS all over the various other forums.
If you guys want to talk politics, please go to PR&C. If you want to talk Corvettes (minus the politics), your in the right place.

YMMV.
I drove my brother's BMW the other day. Talk about negative reaction! The negatives I get in the vette pale in comparison.
Glad I've got the vette, for many more reasons.

I'm glad I live in an area where this has not been problem for me and I practically live in my vette daily. I can go to Walmart without incident and if someone makes notice at a red light it's generally a thumbs up. I find most people just don't pay any attention and I am not looking for any attention or acknowledgment.
To the OP. The other driver was obviously OK with what he did. People pass on the right all the time to get around turning traffic. I don't know if he endangered you in any way or YOU just didn't like what he did and expressed it.
Maybe the both of you learned something from this...
