Those that bought the 1LT version, technically dont know what their missing. Nothing against them, but if you have never had certain options in your car.. how can you technically miss them in the 1st place.
I had an E55 AMG with more trick shiite on it than the aforementioned space shuttle, after that a Grand Cherokee SRT8 LOADED.... then I wanted a sports car, as it was the '08 1LT has crap I didn't want (OnStar and XM) that came "FREE" (...right!) but I have it MY way now. HUD for $600 installed, Caravaggio steering wheel, my version of NPP (B&B Fusion), lighter weight forged wheels (TSW Nurburgring), etc... If you want to take the options GM offers, fine... just don't assume they are the BEST there is. How 'bout that fine GM leather?!
I have 09 1lt, Npp, Z51, forged gumbys, glass roof. Love it..Its pure vette and has what you need. If you want all the options get a CTS V! The only thing I wish for or the wife might is power passenger seat. So with that said get a 2Lt if you can afford it and it will have side air bags. Mine is not daily driver. No regrets.
1LT and I am perfectly happy....HUD is way overrated (I had it on a GTP) Heated seats and all that other fluff stuff doesn't really belong on a Vette...
Go for it you won't regret it. You can always add a decent NAV if you want...
I would have preferred my '07 1LT Coupe without many of the gadgets it came with but GM does not offer a gadget-delete option. I prefer less weight, less load on the electrical system, fewer things to stop working ...... I could do without cruise control, pushbutton start, power seats, power windows, power mirrors, CD player, radio, clock, dual range HVAC, mood lighting, automatic headlights, the fob, horn beeps, light flashes, ding-dongs, DIC, the pop-top, those weird battery cable terminal connectors, TPMS (sorry DOT) and probably some features and accessories that I haven't discovered yet. I'm happy that the peek-a-boo wiper door and peek-a-boo headlights went away some time after 1969 although I liked the chrome bumpers on the Stingray.
The '08 1LT has the best sounding stereo, the most comfortable seats, and the second lightest curb weight in the Corvette line up. What's not to like?
"The lightest versions of the Z06 and Coupe were chosen and we added some exclusive features from the Z06 to the coupe like the HUD, diff cooler, and taller spoiler. The coupe includes Z51 and NPP also to make it the highest performance version of the coupe available." http://www.corvettemuseum.com/specs/2009csp/index.shtml

All subjective I guess, my '07 1LT had the most uncomfortable seats of any car that I've ever owned, with the possible exception of a bench-seat 1988 Buick LeSsbre company car that I once had way back when.
On the up side, the 1LT's now come with the same basic seats as the other models (minus all the adjustments) due to the side air bags.

I have an 09 1LT and am happy with it. The most amazing thing about the car is the chassis and powertrain and how they work together. That's unique to a corvette.
Only way you'll know if a 1LT is a mistake for you, is if you study the other option packages and decide how much you'll miss the other stuff.
I did not have HUD on my 2000.With my driving position the steering wheel would block the speedometer from 10-45 MPH. Made driving in town harder. I made sure I got HUD on my 06 and loved it. There were no other options I couldn't get by without.
No HUD,SIDE BAGS OR BT in an 08 1LT.Plug in your iphone to the aux jack and it'll play thru the car audio though.Pretty much the same as BT.By the way,it's a car,not a phone booth!

I WANTED a 1LT. Not disrespecting other's choices and desires, but I like leaner, stripped down stuff in a sports car, the simpler the better. I didn't even have any interest in a Corvette (since 1967) until the smaller, lighter, simpler C6 came out.
I bought the car for me and no one else, including that I have no interest in impressing anyone.
I don't think the price difference is that much in the used market, so my advice would be to get what you want. I understand folks buying 'the wrong car', i.e., not getting the options that they wanted, and being unhappy so don't do that.
I wish I could have mine with less fru-fru actually, but I understand market realities. I was going to add the HUD, but decided I didn't want that either.
It's not about the cost, buying the wrong cheap car is a bad idea, and costly. I can afford any car I want (no, I don't want a Veyron, but can afford a ZR1 and then some more), and got what I wanted.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
