Gloves are worthless 99% of the time. However, in some climates, even WITH A/C, or on those days you fight A/C, top off, and it's still 50 degrees hotter than Canada will ever see, you find a half finger glove, on a long spirited drive, with a manual transmission, makes driving a little easier. Cruising to the mall? No. Enjoying your favorite curvy road? Sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. Nice to have in the "glove box" when I feel the need.

By the way, Racer. Living in Canada, don't you have to wear gloves all the time just to keep warm?

Regards,
The "ghey" guy in Arizona!

For the track.. fine.
I'm not a big guy so perhaps a wet suit might work when my a$$ sweats I won't move at all.
Come on... I'm **** and want all the cool race stuff for my DD, but gloves .... please
Please note.. if you do the "wave" know ill be laughing inside. Not trying to disrespect... just being honest.
Mark, tell me it isn't so.... I have driven in Phoenix in the summer and I have driven in Florida in the summer, Florida is much worse (it's not the heat that will kill you, it's the humidity. ) and the second quote sums it up. But all is NOT lost Mark, you are still my friend, but now you are my FIRST ghey friend.

Racer, always your friend! Ghey or otherwise!

Responses bragging about more humidity in Florida missed my point. Remember I said 99% of the time gloves are worthless. That leaves 1%. Remember I said sometimes on those curvy roads. Sometimes.

Note the posts saying okay for track. Remember certain policies which forbid us to comment on spirited driving other than a track.

For those who missed my point, and god help you, Gloves 1%, not on the track = Safe but open road driving I can't comment on this forum. So no ability to talk about blasting up the Coronado Trail. Jeez...

Since so many of you missed my point, I'm going to start wearing gloves all the time and wave just to irritate you!!

Regards,
Racers only ghey friend in Arizona

Ok, now I understand

Truth be known, my Escalade has a heated steering wheel, but, if I have to drive my wifes jeep in the winter, I too wear my driving gloves.
I just took a picture of them with my iPhone, sorry about the quality.

I have a pair of gloves in my glovebox. I use them if I get gas on my hand when pumping gas. That's it. In my late model stock car I have to wear them but on the street in my Vette I cringe when I put them on only to get home and wash up. If my wheel is a little slick I grip it a little harder.

Funny how these things get out of hand, but in the end we are all BROTHERS!

Thanks for being a sport.

If we ever pass, I take you off the list of a pink gloved wave (and I am keeping a list...). You will get the bare handed respect you deserve for figuring it out!

Must be my type A personality but I always find myself with a death grip on the steering wheel in my 50 mile (each way) commute. I frequently think it would be nice to have a little more comfort....

I wore them all the time on the (usually hot) trail in my jeep. Really helped a lot with hand fatigue.

So, I will probably get some for long road trips or on my long commute. I don't need them for around town.

Too bad what other people think - IMHO. Do what works for you.

Please reconsider NOT wearing gloves for everyday driving, think of the others on the road first, you will cause accidents from the other drivers LAUGHING hysterically at you and not paying attention, unless of course they are medically issued, then that's ok to wear..

So you'll be moked.

Yet, especially w/ alcantra steering wheels..... gloves slow down the wear.

Also gloves can prevent sunburn, keep you hands clean and prevent transfer of skin oil to leather car components.

As for feel or traction....with a leather wheel I don't think they are necessay, with a wood steering wheel gloves increase your grip/ traction.

That's a good one!! But thinking back,,,the bad guy in the black Charger in Bullet strapped on a pair just before the chase that eventually got him and his shot gun (literally)riding partner killed!! Oh well that was one bad azz chase scene!!
