I also use the solid top from April to October then switch over to the transparent top. The main reason I don't leave the transparent top on during the summer is that alot of people have had the tint coating on the transparent top start to have a spider web cracking effect cause by the heat. The heat here in florida ain't no joke.

Melting Slicks
Mine is showing some spider cracking along the right and left edges. Can not see it from the inside. Always wondered why it does that....

Im in the market for a coupe. Down here in Alabama the summer heat is brutal.
If I get a car that only has the "clear" top will I be able to survive by installing a "headliner" in the clear top?
Or should I just hold out for a car with both tops?

Clear Targa top
I wish I had a glass top for my 1999 Coupe. I’m talking clear, but tinted, glass top. Not to be confused with what glass means when talking about a Corvette. All tops on every single Corvette is a glass top. Yes...Fiber-Glass. Get it? Lol. I find removing my solid roof, painted, easily done by one person. It took me the better(or worse) part of a 1/2 an hour to replace my Targa (sorry for being European) top in pouring down rain this past 3 months of summer I enjoyed. Love this Wisconsin living. The pins on the rear of the top would not line up, the interior plastic trip kept slipping down, covering up the holes on the chassis roof. I finally said the heck with this and I drove home in the rain. Please...somebody help me with this problem. This really sucks. Thomas D. Gillespie Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 90 days of summer not long enough. summer...QUOTE=themaffeo;1577739620]clear roof is a must anywhere outside socal. It's nice to have sunlight and wear shot sleeves when it's 60 degrees outside

I bought my clear roof from a local forum member. I love it. Makes the cockpit feel more open.
Edit: I got suckered into a no0bs epic thread revival.

Talk about waking up the dead,2011?
1999 is a C5 and Me thinks you would be better off asking in that section. I have both rooves and the clear stays under my bed most of the time because it's too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer for a clear roof. I can't remember the last time Corvette had a glass roof, C3 maybe? I have a friend that has real glass T-tops and he complains about changing them because they weigh too much.
