My car is a Daily Driver and has Full exhaust bolt ons 6 speed manuel?
Also would like to hear the impressions of those who has had it done?
Also my brother has an 08 like me with exact same bolt ons. I wanna beat him off the line and roll races. For now it is dead even from a roll. He is talking about gettin a torque converter. What else do I need to do thanks?
I have been reading Rangers post on shifting fast and I am improving alot. I kinda want the best of both worlds. My car is a daily driver about 90% of the time and the other 10% would be drag racing.
Wondering if 3.90's would be just right?? Would like more suggestions on this especially the C6 2008+ Guys?
I have seen the information below on another site concerning gear ratios for automatics verses sticks. Do these numbers look correct? I copied the statement and placed in quotes below. If true, it looks like the auto could keep up off the line if it has the 2.73 in it (such as the Grand Sport) compared to the standard.
"The C6 Z06 (which I think most would consider has a performance
transmission has a 3.42 differential which results in:
1st 2.66 9.097
2nd 1.78 6.088
3rd 1.30 4.446
4th 1.00 3.420
5th 0.74 2.531
6th 0.50 1.710
Now for the 2008 automatic. The first final ratio is for the standard
2.56 differential and the second is for the 2.73.
1st 4.027 10.309 10.994
2nd 2.364 6.052 6.454
3rd 1.532 3.922 4.182
4th 1.152 2.949 3.145
5th 0.852 2.181 2.326
6th 0.667 1.707 1.821
In other words, leaving the line the standard automatic with the 2.56
is equivalent to a Z06 manual with a 3.88 differential and the 2.73
auto would be a 4.13 differential. As far as mileage, the standard
auto and manual are the same ratios while the 2.73 would be a 3.64
manual."
I'm not a drag racer but I have a (scientist) friend who is. The guy is pretty meticulous about data logging, etc. and he's made many modifications to his C6 including a torque converter. He went to the 4.10 rear end in his C6 'drag' car and found it didn't make much, if any, difference at the end of the 1/4 mile. If it were me I'd look to get more power out of my engine. Perhaps, do the top end along with a FAST intake.
