If you folks have not had a chance to read this book, then I highly recommend it:

In the Gravest Extreme: The Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection, by Massad F. Ayoob

http://www.amazon.com/Gravest-Extrem.../dp/0936279001

In the book he mentions the "decoy wallet" - I think it's a great idea. At the *very least* it allows you to gain distance from your attacker. Here's a guy discussing it on another forum (not posted by me but I think it's good info): http://www.calccw.com/Forums/230734-post45.html

Houston is scary and dangerous. I've lived here my entire 36 years of life. I always know my surroundings. Head on a swivel. Watching local news is like watching some weird news style episode of 'Cops", hell its better....or is it worse. But a lot of those stories start with "home owner shoots and kills home invasion suspect". Good hard working citizens are tired of the trash here. Recently our police chief or mayor released info that crime is down. I find that extremely hard to believe. Apparently they don't watch the news. Everyday a murder, body found, female missing, female found dead, male missing, male found dead, bank robbery, bank robbery inside Kroger/Randalls/HEB, multiple home invasions, ect ect ect. This city is nuts. Buy gun, learn gun, get CHL, carry gun. It's sad to say and I'll probably get criticized for this on here, but it's life and death in Houston and it doesn't matter if you live in the hood, ghetto, third ward, forth, fifth, whatever ward or if you live in a $300,000 house in a very nice developed neighborhood. These thugs are everywhere and they don't care about anything but taking what you have for there own. Be careful out there brothers and sisters.

Common now it is not all that bad. Stay aware of your surroundings and protect yourself, Criminals look for easy victims. Never let a stranger get in your personal space if you can help it.

This one shoots through houses, cars, trees, body armor and if it does not wound. I put it on top of my I-pad to give it a size ref.

The OP has a total of 3 posts! Doesnt any of you suspect your leg being pulled with this thread?

I am wondering why they took the key fob and not the car? It still doesnt make sense even if the perp intended to come get the car at a later date, naturally the defensive can be executed, (reprogram the key fob rendering it useless, park the car somewhere else etc). It would have been more logical to just take the car on the spot.

If this really happened to you then my bad, and I apologize. But you join a forum just to tell them you got robbed? Doesnt make sense!

I got a PM from him. He did the long form on the FOB relearn and all is well with the security issue for the car. The stolen FOB is useless.

As a 31 year resident of Houston I really dislike when I read things like this. It paints a picture of Houston that is way out of context. All major cities have crime. Truth is that it's pretty rare to become a victim of major crime. But in a city with a metropolitan population of over 4 million, there will be crime somewhere every day, and the press will report it every day.

Here are some links I have found that support that Houston is nowhere near the top in most dangerous cities....

Ok Ok, I apologize. I start ranting and over exaggerate sometimes. I watch to much local news. I think the news almost, dare I say, "glorifies" crime stories like they do storm and hurricane stories, but that's there job I guess. I just get tired of hearing it. I know this city isn't the worst in the country and I hope it never is. I love this city....minus the morons on the road.

Crowhater, I just bought a Judge Poly Public Defender. Slowly becoming my favorite in my collection. Have you found a IWB holster for yours?

here is the ammo I use with my Judge
http://www.winchester.com/Products/N.../pdx1-410.aspx

here is my conceal holster. All this robbery talk of late made me chose to carry the Judge for a while and I like the added weight. I have grown use to carrying my LCP and the extra weight of the judge just feels good.

my Holster is a "uncle Mikes size 36"

I saw a video on youtube of these two nuckle heads shooting particle board with that ammo and other types of ammo from a judge. PDX1 is lethal. Those 3 disks that come out first are no joke.

When I take the airboat out we always scare hogs out of the swamp brush. You run up on a hog and shoot him with one of these rounds at 10 yards and he is flipping to a stop in the mud. The wound channel is real nasty with almost instant death. I don't think you could get through the shoulder plate with this round but the .45 long hot rounds I use will get through. It is just a great gun for running the swamp because you can load bird shot for snakes, #6 for a Nutra rat or similar sized animal, go with a PDX1 round for bigger game and shoot .45 longs for big game.
