Gotta laugh at all the "size" references that evolve in these threads.
Well I am laughing at your illogical comment alright. No, and I don't want to stand in front of a loaded .22 or BB gun either, but just because I don't want to do that doesn't make a BB gun the ideal personal defense weapon.

There's a reason the FBI switched to 40's. And no, I wouldn't want to stand in front of a 9mm either. But my personal safety preferences and those of a bleeding-out, but still alive and armed felon my vary.

Unfortunately ours. It was in The Villager along with reference to another one around the Mall or Market Street around the same time. Its good to know the FOBs are easily changed.

This was the Woodlands Watch message from MCSO:

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is investigating two incidents that occurred in the early morning hours on July 29, 2011.

On July 29, 2011, at approximately 5 a.m., two male contractors for AT&T reported that they were repairing cable inside a box truck in the area of Grogan's Mill Rd. and Sawdust Rd. around 4:15 a.m. when two suspects with bandanas covering their faces entered the truck and pointed handguns at them. The suspects took the victim's cell phones, keys and wallets and one victim was punched in the face. The suspects fled in a midsized silver SUV. The victims said that one suspect was a Hispanic male and the other was a black male.

The same morning around 4:40 a.m. a 57 year old male reported that as he was retrieving a gym bag from inside his vehicle in the 24 Hour Fitness parking lot on Lake Woodlands Dr. in The Woodlands, two black males dressed in black clothing and ski masks approached him. One suspect had a handgun and forced the victim to lie on the ground. The suspects took the victim's wallet, cell phone and gym bag and left in an older model passenger car driving away west on Lake Woodlands Dr.

No suspects have been identified or arrested in either case.

I know what you are saying. I moved to a nice place to get away from that stuff and now it is getting closer to my front door.

You also have to be extra careful early in the morning and late at night, thats when the cockroaches come out.

eggggzactly. I am so glad they passed the law that says people can have their weapon in their car when they park it at work. Our company is struggling with that one now. Can't wait to see how they intepret the new law.

I'll be screwed anyway since I drive a company car and work at a D.O.T. regulated facility, but at leat those reporting to corporate offices will likely be able to put theirs in their car.

Yes Sir!

About the only way to be safe is to live way in the woods with your gun and your dog.

I moved to The Woodlands in 1990 and saw the 1st McDonald's built. Even today, crime in the neighborhoods tends to involve building crews. Its just too difficult for most "visitors" to figure out where they are. No landmarks and everything circles around on itself. The great places up front, sitting right on the interstate, are too inviting. A place like 24 Hr Fitness, by definition should have a security guard or an off-duty deputy. A lot of folks kick-start their days at a health club. What happened here is not my idea of a way to boost your adrenalin.

Re the new law, one of the drafters referred to it as, "a parking lot law". You can carry in your car and leave it locked in your car. No provision for anything else unless your company ok's it. No company cars, including rentals and lease vehicles. It is actually a fairly well crafted law with a fair amount of language re where liabilities do and do not exist. Pretty much removes ambiguity for a company inclined to complain.

Yep, saw it on click2houston ........

http://www.click2houston.com/news/28710372/detail.html

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Residents in The Woodlands were advised to be on alert after two armed robberies happened within minutes of each other.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said two contractors for AT&T reported that two men attacked them while they were repairing fiber optic cable inside a box in the area of Grogan's Mill Drive and Sawdust Road about 4:15 a.m. Friday.

The men had bandannas covering their faces and were armed with guns, investigators said.

Detectives said the men stole the contractors' cellphones, keys and wallets and punched one of the victims in the face before fleeing in a midsized silver SUV.

A short time later, a 57-year-old man reported that two men attacked him in the parking lot of the 24 Hour Fitness on Lake Woodlands Parkway, deputies said.

The man said his attackers were armed, dressed in all black clothing and wore ski masks, detectives said.

Investigators said the men took the victim's wallet, cellphone and gym bag before fleeing in an older-model passenger car.
