Hi just purchased a new to me C6 2007 convertible, had a look underneath and it already has rubber type pads on the 4 jacking points that don't seem to want to come out are these factory or aftermarket.

They are aftermarket. Likely BMW accessory pads. They make a couple of sets that designed to be mounted and left in place. If I recall, there is a plunger in the center (should be a hole) that holds the pad in place in the slot at the jacking location.

Thanks for the quick reply that's what i fault, thought I had better make sure before i have my provincial inspection completed tomorrow, rather hoping that they don't put it on a lift.
BMW has two styles. Talon described the square one......... I have the round style. to remove insert a flat blade screwdriver between the pad and body, then twist.
thanks for pictures mine are the round ones.Do these work and give enough protection to the car, as I still have my metal ones from my C5 but don't think these are tight enough fit to be left in all the time.
As far as these BMW jacking pads ... Which type are the thickest and least likely to cause damage to the rocker panels when used ... The square or the round ones?
I guess they could just be left in place on the car all the time?
Do you just go buy them at the local BMW dealership?
I use and like the BMW jacking pucks but I would not recommend you leave them installed 24/7. They're made for a specific purpose....use them when needed and remove them promptly after use. They stowe-away nicely in the rear storage cubby.
Pull the center pins down part way then use a flat blade screwdriver to pry them off. FWIW I partially drilled out the center pins and screwed some small brass screws in (leaving the screw heads sticking out part way). It makes it easier to grasp the center pins with a Leatherman Tool or pliers.
If you use the Bavauto site, just do a search as a 2004 330I and search jacking pucks. Rectangular ones should show up. They fit many different applications, but this is an easy search tip.
The rectangular ones are taller but are also somewhat visible. I also had a piece of road junk catch on one of mine. I've since changed to the round ones.
I just purchased a set of the BMW lift pads for my 2011. They fit perfectly are removed really easily. They will rattle if left in as the fit does allow for slight movement. If you wanted to have them stay on you can use black gasket maker around the edge of the puck. Insert the puck and let it dry.

I have the round ones installed and I leave them in all the time. Although they are slighly loose, they do not rattle....... at least I cannot hear them with the top up or down. If you could hear them, then a small dab of silicone would silence them and you could still remove them easily with a screw driver.
