I had a GTR beat the sheet out of me at the 1/8 mile and my car was 453RWHP on drag radials. I ran a 7.2 with a 1.5sec 60', lost 100 bucks. Payback is coming though.

It would take nothing for a stock C6 to compete with a GTR....beating a GTR would take something else.
I've driven road courses with a few GTR's. The GTR does not appeal to me in the least but I respect its performance. The GTR is not invincible.
they do nothing for me at all.. FUGLY, but I too respect the car for it's performance.. but as you said they are not invincible either. With the right mods to the C6 you can beat one. The biggest advantage obviously is the AWD and computer shifting.

where i live in my area thers 5 gtr owners. one of them is my buddy who just gor 2012 gtr. Great car only thing i dont like it is that he changed exhaust and now sounds like a rice rocket lol.
And i tried to keep up with him in my c6.. no way, that car is so fast its crazy....
What about a roll from a ZO6 or ZR-1 or a cammed C6 with full bolt ons?
Would the GTR still beat these cars say like 40mph to 120 mph.
Talking about same HP.
assuming we are talking about the *new* GTR that has about 50 MORE HP than prior modles... A ZR1 would not have any trouble beating the GTR in a roll race.
A Z06 with the right driver could hang from a roll, but again shifting etc.. and what gear the car starts in all play a part... again the GTR enjoys the computer shifting while the Z's and base C6 manuals do not.
There are a few youtube videos I believe with Z06 and ZR1's racing GTRs ... just make sure you know which GTR it is, new or older.
A cammed base C6 vs. GTR, tough to tell..depends on how much HP the C6 cammed car has, and what type of cam it's running..what Kind of power it puts down. Would have to be a pretty large cam and agressive tune to out run a GTR.
Like I was saying before, think of it this way... the Z06 and GTR are pretty closely matched when it comes to power and weight ratio (the GTR being heavier but with 50 more HP than a Z06).. so you'd have to get the C6 base car to at least hang with a Z06 before even thinking aobut beating a GTR.

On top of the price of a new GTR I heard the price to just tune it is like $4500.00
The R35 GTR's tailamps pretty much carryover from the previous (R34) model so they are definitely NOT Vette knockoffs. Plenty of cars, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Corvette, Semis have the same basic quad tail lamp design. Anyway, the GTR is NO JOKE, and the 2012 car with 530hp is wicked fast. I'm a Corvette enthusiast through and through but I also have an affinity for other great performing cars too. Nissan made this car to humiliate the 911 Turbo and a base Corvette does not compete with that car and the GTR shames the 911 Turbo. Better AWD system and the transmission makes the car make a blind lepar a perfect driver. I would think for straight line acceleration the Corvette would need closer to 600whp, DRs and a great driver unless using a stalled auto. The GTR will not come off boost with that transmission so the power delivery will be the same as an NA car. The Vettes biggest obstacle would be traction against the GTR. Secondly followed by not so much power, but it would need to compensate for missed power while shifting as the GTR will accelerate as if going through one gear.
I have recent personal experience running these cars and they are no slouch but definitely not unbeatable when you take traction out of the equation.
The 2012 GTR is essentially a bolt-on 2009-2011 GTR. Tuning a GTR makes them animals and many see gains of near 100awhp with a y-pipe and tune. As I understand it the GTR can have up to nine different maps so you really never know what you're up against when racing one as the push of a button changes the game.
My H/C LS2 put 3-4 car lengths on a bolt-on 2011 from 40-120mph. At another event we were running 40-160mph but I wasn't able to get the same race there but I can tell you after 80mph I start dragging those cars with ease.
On the other hand MANY GTR owners are switching over to E85 and that is crack for those cars. I've been walked by two different E85 GTR's by 3-4 car lengths. Both of these E85 GTR's made right at 600awhp and @625awtq. The E85 helps their spool time drastically!
To outrun a 2012 GTR at the dragstrip you'll need some serious power and tires along with driver skill to even be close. From a roll you'll need a 40mph start minimum and @450rwhp to stay handle to handle.
I still don't know what to make of the GTR... I mean, what is it? Is it a race-car? well, not really since they have back seats. Is it a "sports" car? No clutch, no open-roof option... doesn't really fit... is it a Muscle car? (sort of reserved for V8 - RWD cars) doesn't fit... is it a dragster? acts like one but is way too heavy... Is it an exotic? well.. almost... but missing the sexy ninja curves of lambos and Ferraris... In fact.. the closest thing sort of AWD & turbo is like a WRX or Sti.. . Does that make the GTR a Rally car?
...
... I would totally watch a GTR go off-road.. How mad crazy would that be?

I personally don't like it. I think the front is an Audi knock off, the tail lights are a vette knock off. Then the fact that I am a die hard American seals the deal on the dislike for it.
