Default Changing Headlight Surrounds

Hi all, I want to change the headlight surrounds on the ZR1. This was not an option in 2010. Looking at Black, possibly Carbon Fiber.
The search feature is not returning what I am looking for-where to get these and how hard are they to install or where to get them installed. I won't be doing it myself
If anyone has any pics of Black or Carbon Fiber on Red please post those too TIA

You have to buy all new headlamps. And if you want to switch to CF I suggest you check out spector werks in Troy Michigan. It will cost you a little over 2k. I have had bad experience with the CF lights. It seems the CF can not withstand the heat that is coming out from the lights. The lens eventually get the CF particles all on the inside. I am on my second pair. The same thing happens. So now I'm just waiting for it to get really bad. and switch them over to blk. You can check out how they look like at my YouTube vid. ?

You don't need to buy new.
There are several threads that covered pulling out the headlight buckets, repainting them and then reinstalling. In particular one really nice CG GS that went to silver buckets. And another guy is having his yellow buckets down in black.

I believe the threads are titled 'mods' and that is why it is hard to search for. Generally this is part of an overall program and not standalone and that is why you can't search.

I'll try to search and see what I can find.

Thanks for the head up, the CF looks nice however considering the problems you have had best to go with Black

These guys will remove your lenses, paint the buckets and install new lenses.

Or you can do like I just did and pick up a set of black headlights, new or used. New I think they are about $1600 or more. This guy sells repainted ones with new lenses for about a grand. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-p...-for-sale.html

Use the "Search this Forum" on the right toward the top of the screen. Type in "Black headlight" and you will have a lot of reading to go by.

I am on year 4 with my Carbon Headlights. No problems at all. May just be the luck of the draw.

Thanks I have sent ECP a few PMs but no reply (Edit: Found out they are having an issue with the PMs) The Dealership can get me new assemblies for about $1K each and I have found a place that can remove and install them. Not really wanting to play around with breaking the seal

I have a set of factory new Black headlights for 1550.00 shipped.

My used sets with new lens installed run 1080.00 shipped.

Not much to worry about the seal as the headlights are not air tight. They just have one helluah bond to keep the lens on when going over 200mph.

I literally have several hundred headlights and lens swaps out there and no reported problems with the bonding adhesive I use. The headlights will behave as the factory assemblied one will. (at least running 160mph. Haven't had anyone say they have ran 200+ yet)

I usually have several sets in stock so I'm always ready when you are ready and want to go with mine.

Dealer will charge about 1.5 to 2 hours labor time to remove & reinstall them.
