Thank you for doing a tough job. And thanks for telling us a little about it. Reading a post like yours humanizes your profession.
Driving my vette to and from work is a big deal to me also. Many days it's the high points. I'd be big time disappointed to get damage from just driving down the road.
Agree 100% with the exception of 1 little thing. When u refer to them as animals, u r actually complimenting them.....
Your right I shouldn't put them in the same class as my dogs....my dogs are better than that! Regarding the ghetto just saw this today. Imagine being a ghetto cop and making plans for the next day???
10 years of serving the general public having bullets buzzing by your ears. I understand the OP statments exactly our C6 is our getaway to sanitity.. Thanks for serving
Reading some or all of these posts is what makes me not come here often and very seldom respond anymore myself. I like to think that by being Corvette owners, we are decent, humane, compassionate human beings and respect others for who and what they are. Some people are so judgmental and attempt to pass their own opinions on to others without realizing that we are not all built the same whether you are in the same vocation or whatever. Physcologically we are all different and de-stress in our own ways. As a Viet-Nam vet, I have some vet friends that are willing to talk about their experiences and others who get visibly shaken and refuse to talk about it. My point being, give the OP a break. You and he are different. "Why can't we all just get along?" Nuff said. I said my piece or "Peace". To the OP, keep up the good work, stay safe and "Thanks" for everything you do.

list goes like this
*Texas
*NC
*Arizona
Cali was 1nce on the list, no longer.......
Yipe..you shouldn't insult the animal kingdom! Lol....
lmao...absolutely not!! Animals r wonderful, protect their young (mostly) and strive to survive with PURPOSE....cant say we're dealing with that kind of mentality in the streets...
I know the feeling!! I just retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, after doing almost 22 years.
I thank you for your service. I have had to work with some pretty bad dudes after the local and Fed Leo's would bring them in. And some of them would take it out on us for what happened to them.
I am just glad I survived, as some of my fellow workers were not as fortunate. Just in the last few years a fellow leo after surviving 2 tours in Iraq, started working for the agency at USP Atwater. He had just over a year and was stabbed to death by some very sick inmate.
Had another friend who was stabbed in the eye with a comb, by a know Terrorist, in MDC Brooklyn.
Keep up the great service you provide and hopefully you will retire soon!!!! And may you have a better week!!!!
I have all the respect in the world for police and firemen. All I can say is, I wouldn't do it, and, they don't pay you guys enough!
God Bless You and Thank You for Protecting us!
I could not do what you do. Thanks for your service. It,s just a car but it's a vette. Get it fixed and keep serving we need more people like you. Thanks again.

Very Nice, I'm near Raleigh. I went to Palm Beach first but really didn't want to raise my kids there. So half back to NC. Beautiful here. Family orientated. Don't want to hijack here so PM me anytime brother. Have friends in Az and texas can give you their insight too.
Ghettos and public housing haven't changed one iota in the last half century. 10% of the people still commit 90% of the crimes. All of the busing, head start programs, and 150 other federal welfare programs, plus hundreds of state and city welfare programs, haven't changed anything. I can't even imagine being a police officer, I would totally loose it the first day on the job.

thanks kindly ....we'll pick another thread and hijack it
we'll kick it soon..
I agree completely! I did 20 years as a cop, Det., and Sgt in NYPD in the worst "A" houses during the 80's and 90's crack wars! Only cops get cops! Civilians cannot understand cops and how we have to compartmentalize the insanity of the Ghetto and working there. I have seen other posts by the OP and cannot understand trying to explain this stuff to civilians! I got the post and understood it perfectly but I knew I would read stupid comment to follow! Keep cop stuff to emails and cop forums, civilians CANNOT understand. They judge and make stupid comments......then when they have a problem call a cop for help and judge every move he makes!! I loved the job and never complained, it was the greatest show on earth. I also love cops and pray for them when I see them flying down the road, been there done that. God bless them for with out them there is anarchy! I too have always used my vette as my outlet....but I always swapped cop stories w/ cops.......who didn't judge and understood perfectly what it's like to deal w/ animals and work in the ghetto everyday. We are harder and desensitized...it doesn't look pretty to civilians and they don't get it. Yes, I usually get along best w/ cops, military guys, fireman, and ems!!! LOL
WOW!! Its refreshing to see all this support for LE and all emergency responders. I believe I speak for us all of us in saying that we appreciate the kind words and showing your support and appreciation for us.
First of all, thanks for posting and sharing your thoughts! And thank you for doing what you do to make a difference in our crazy world. And lastly, "keep enjoying your Corvette"
In your chosen profession where you routinely deal with tragedy and the seedy underside of society I suppose you get somewhat callous or hardened to what you encounter as a 'safety' mechanism. You have to distance yourself from it or you go nuts. Like in war you have to put 'it' aside and soldier on. Good luck repairing the car damage and I hope next week is better.

Sounds like a Chevy Chase movie. FWIW on windy days always tie the ladder to something on the roof so it won't blow down or if it does you can retreive it. Taking a cell phone up with you isn't a bad idea either. .
