I sure hope State Farm didn't read the article as they are only charging me $600 a year on my Z06.

Dang that's low! Who do you use and is it a high deductible policy? I have Indiana Farm Bureau on my 07 coupe and a clean record.

My cost is either $700 or $800 depending on a $500 or $100 comprehensive deductible.

I pay $1200 a year for my GS and 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee (that I just bought today as a matter of fact) 100,000/300,000 with full glass and collision with a $500 deductible on both.

I've owned several Vette's, and never found insurance rates that bad, but admittedly as a second car. I have my C6 ZO6, late model daily driver, and home owners for $200 month through a major carrier.

Amazing range of prices!

My contribution:

2011 Coupe, 2LT, Chrome Wheels, A6, AM/FM/6 disc = $750/yr. with the Hartford.

Principal driver is over 60 years by the calendar, younger in the mind.

2011 GS MN6 3LT. $824/year. My wife's '05 Lexus GX 470 $793/year. All I can figure is low numbers must be age + reading the CF its clear most Vette pilots take care of their rides. I know the Lexus doesn't get the Zaino or the too frequent oil changes.

FYI, the most expensive cars to insure, on average - BMW 750 series followed by the big Benz + AMG's. A few 911's tossed in as well.

I switched from Nationwide to AARP-Hartford, premuim fell from $2330 a year for 3 autos (vette, 4-runner, olds) to $965 a year. Same exact coverage, same dedeuctibles, etc. What a difference!!!! I guess its good to be an official codger and member of the AARP

I'm 39 wife is 35...we live in Minnesota and have our insurance through Liberty Mutual.

2001 Ford F-150 $513
2005 GMC Envoy $563
2011 Z06 $761

Total annual cost for all three cars is $1837 and I think that is pretty cheap.

It's pointless to compare costs. There are too many variables.

If the Corvette is your only car, and you drive to work every day, you will pay more than someone who has a beater to drive to work, and the Corvette is a pleasure car. Plus, you get a multi-car discount.

Do you drive the Corvette 5,000 miles a year or 20,000?

Do you have $50 deductible or $1,000?

Do you live in the city and park in the street, or in the country and park in a garage?

Do you have many drivers or just you?

How old are you?

Driving record?

Total coverage or minimum, etc.?

The problem with these insurance premium threads is that "full coverage" is not defined and not the same from post to post.

I carry $500K combined limit for bodily injury and property damage liability, $300K un/underinsured motorists coverage, $1K deductible on both comprehensive (except glass at full coverage) and collision, $60K agreed value endorsement.
I am a senior with clean driving record.
Annual premium is $783.

When I first bought my 2005 C6 the annual insurance premium was just slightly more than my 4 year older Suburban. I was pleasantly surprised. Then, my oldest teenage son got a ticket, my daughter got her driver's license and subsequently totaled her new car. Insurance rates on all (5) vehicles increased dramatically. Now my youngest son is about to get his driver's license....oh joy!

Been through that with both my daughters. Kids are going to have some sort of accident due to brain deficiencies but you just hope no one gets seriously injured. It would have been hypocritical of me to jump all over them for their actions when their father made the exact same mistakes! We all made it through those years.

It's all based on the number of claims on a particular car.
Fewer Corvettes,less claims=lower premiums.
