i had a bonehead in a newer white v6 camaro rs cut in and out of traffic the other day to get up close to me and then try to egg me on by flooring it multiple times and then violently cutting in front of me.
i looked over shook my head and laughed at him and proceeded normally.
i have noticed more boneheads in gm cars lately, i never get called out by fast cars on the road, its always someone in there fartpipe, rustang or newer pony cars.
It seems that every schmuck wants to race me. From the guy in the Lexus is250 to the guy in the turbo Volvo, it's kinda funny. I didn't even have to put the gaspedal down 50% to beat the moron in the Benz a couple of weeks ago.
My best friend has a Ferrari F430 and a Bently GT Speed and he is stoked for me that I finally got the car I wanted.
If we are stopped I tell them that my car can also go around corners and stop without ending up in the ditch.
If they persist, I tell them that "I'm scared and I don't want to be covered in bondo and clearasil when they detonate".
A big yawn and head shake is the capper.
On the other hand, I often compliment drivers of other cars that I think are cool, regardless of manufacturer. Usually catches them by surprise and most, if not all, are complimentary right back.
For the most part I am pretty nice to people with other sports cars. I am sure they are just as proud of what they have as I am about my vet and I have no desire to be a jerk to them. Now there are times I have talked a little trash but it was after hearing how over rated the C6 corvette is. I know a guy with a yeloow transformer Camero and he is always talking trash. I told him if his car could transform it would want to turn into a C6. As for racing I do it at the track not on the street. When people hear you run at the track it just fuels the trash talking.

Had that once with an "acquaintance", told me in front of a crowd of friends how he "never liked Corvette's", I asked him how many he owned, he said "ahhhh, none", I think I made my point!
I'm getting old. I have not been called out since 1969 in my 69 GTO.
But then I do not hang with the street crowd. I have had a few cars pull up and rev. I just ignore them completely. Maybe this is being called out. Would not know and do not care.
Lesson learned early, keep the door shut completely because if it is open slightly things can escalate. Usually leads to irresponsible actions, at least for me.
One of the welders at work just bought a 06' E55 Mercedes AMG now they all want us to race this summer. Lol I have nothing to prove. My GS speaks for itself. Apparently he does.
If you're up to it reply 'let's run a road course instead.' Racing in a straight line for a 1/4 mile is all well and good but it's not a measure of a car or driver's all-around capabilities (especially if one has an automatic transmission). See how eager the drag racer is when braking and cornering (and more driver skill) are required. Make it on a 2-3 mile road course for a extended period so he runs out of NOS or overheats his supercharged engine.

....and they probably do. There is always someone faster.

The import-tuner crowd has contributed a lot to the car culture. There are some little 4-cylinder imports that'll blow the doors off a Corvette and they're reliable. Some are high tech, high dollar machines but many cars are being built by kids with limited funds. They do the best they can with what they have. You may not understand the import-tuner scene but I suggest you try to be more open-minded. It may not be what you or I are into but in essence were all 'car guys.' Like it or not there are some incredible modified imports.

That's just something those with factory stock cars say.
hahaha, yes, all the time. Matter of fact, a buddy of mine has been begging to get me to run him. I'm in a cammed C6 putting down 416/389. He's in a built turbo S2000. I don't know what his numbers are. I always mess with him though saying that, "Sure, we'll do a first to 200mph"
Tell him your lug nuts require more torque than his Honda makes.
I can't go for a two minute ride without somebody wanting to race me.
I had an old guy in a minvan screeching tires next to me a few days ago, obviously just horsing around...
