Default Lower Valance Options

I've been looking at changing my stock lower valance since I really dislike the cheap looking grain flat black factory piece and wondered what my options were.

I know I can get either a body coloured one or a carbon fiber version from a bunch of different vendors but I'm not sure I want to spend a ton of cash on this particular item. My first choice would be a glossy black one but I haven't seen anyone offer one. Is painting my factory one the only way to get a glossy black version?

are you talking about the rear diffuser by any chance? You can get a fiberglass diffuser and paint it, look around, those CF diffusers are typically offered in FRG as well

Yes, the flat black rear fascia piece.

I'm confused with "fascia." The rear valance or diffuser is the black plastic on the bottom rear of the car by the tail pipes. FWIW, I've got some decent instructions for removing (and reinstalling) the rear valance. If you'd like them PM me your email address. I'll be glad to send them to you.

Use search function in C6 section using phrase "rear diffuser", you will get quite a bit of info.

That is the part I am speaking of. GM calls it a fascia (usually the GM code for "bumper cover"). I work for GM so the re and re is not problem. Thanks. I just want to buy one that is ready to go in a gloss black but nobody seems to sell one. Surprised by it too.

are you looking for stock diffuser painted or custom one that is prepainted? One of the vendors here, RPI sells an aftermarket diffuser made by CDC that you can purchase prepainted. Search RPI website and you shall find it.

I did find some info when doing a search before posting but it was either the carbon fiber version or the body colored ones I don't like the look of.

I definitely would prefer a glossy black painted one I don't have to send out. Just do a re and re and be done with it.

I've spoken to some vendors here who are really super cool, and have told me to comply get some plastic primer, and the gloss black that I want, and paint it myself.

Wayne O, if you have instructions on taking off the diffuser, I'd love to get my hands on those.

I plan to try this over the weekend, providing the weather agrees.
If all goes well, I'll take some pictures and post them.

I did mine a few weeks ago and the hardest part was cleaning it before it could be sent out for painting. I couldn't believe the amount of sand that came out.

Cost me $150 to paint.

It is a dirt catcher. I clean mine every winter with the vacuum cleaner, just to keep the build up within reason.

I like the one (I forget who the vendor is) that covers the mufflers, but $1k for it unpainted (Even painted for $1k is too high) made me say hell no quick.
