I think the general conscientious is that the Purolator is far and away a better filter. I should have changed it out as soon as I bought the car.

Just a reminder that it's okay to mention getting products from non-forum vendors, but listing product numbers, prices, and a few other things about that vendor's product are a

Members are not prohibited from mentioning it when they have a good (or bad, for that matter) experience with a non-supporting vendor. But such mentions cannot be so specific (address, phone number, e-mail address, URL, price, part number, offer to send contact information via PMs, etc.) or so frequent that they become marketing and promotional references.

I pulled the OEM cabin filter at about 15k miles on it, and it was .... threw it in the trash, then forgot to replace it so drove all last year without a cabin filter

Just ordered the Purlator from Advanced Auto online yesterday.

Here is mine after about 25K miles. I was really surprized how bad it looked. I will change this once a year from now on!

How did you decide it was time to change it?

Reading that other thread a few weeks ago about the dead mouse found in one,it was only $13.

I blow mine out after one year and change it after two.
I use the Purolator filter and get it from Advance.

Driving with the windows down after you've filtered your cabin air ruins the effects of that nice filtered air. 😷

I think I waited too long to change mine. I changed it when she hit 80,000 miles.

(I now have 120,000 on her - prob time to chage it again)

Default Cabin filter:

I replaced mine after I bought the car (58,000 miles). By the looks of it, I don't think the previous owner bothered to check it. It was full of debris and really clogged. I purchased one from Advanced Auto w/charcoal (they had to order it...came in the next day). Was easy to install.

Good luck...

Here's to breathing easier...

it will take you 2 1/2 minutes total - there is a small door behind the battery - just unclip, pull out the old one, install the new one - make sure you get the air flow direction correct

With a convertible that I drive most often with the top down I really don't need to bother with changing my filter very often. I just blow it out.

Secondly, is it really any better to have a thicker filter?
