Having had two C5s & my present '08 C6 & having endured the cheap, plastic like ,un-
comfortable interiors in all three, I suffered in silence. No more. The other day, the latch & handle on the rarely opened glove compartment door broke in the locked position. Fortunately, we got it opened.Imagine my surprise when I found out that it was considered a "trim" item & as such, was not covered by the warranty. From my technical
background, a "trim" item is fixed in place, immovable & not capable of the motion of the
latch, etc. By taking this cheapskate approach on a $50k+ car with an extended warranty, GM is reverting to its old "screw the consumer" ways.Considering that C6 sales over the past several years are ~ 1/2 of C5 sales, one would think that GM would go the extra mile to maintain its existing customers.
I'm always surprised when people buy $50k cars without sitting inside them first. Especially when they buy them not once, not twice but 3 separate times.

Your dealer could take care of the issue if they wanted to. However the dealer will make more money if you pay for the repair instead of covering it under the warranty. I never have issues like this from my dealer they always step up to the plate and take care of the issue. Might want to find a dealer who has first rate customer service. GOOD LUCK!!
The guy is complaining about a $30 repair that will cost him $300 at GM service, and G f*ing M won't cover it to keep the peace with it's loyal customers.
Sh!tty customer service and customer appreciation if you ask me...

I think my interior is pretty comfortable. But I have to agree that the glove compartment latch is poorly designed and should be warranted.
It is! in the first 36 mos. after purchase. it is, after all, a 10 dollar item to replace, not a $10K item. and mine was replaced when it broke.
wadr, if that's the extent of the "rant" it is so minor imo. as to the interior, I'm with the above poster---it's pretty good for me, but like anything, can be improved.

Maybe I'm way off base here but from what I can see, he's owned at least 3 Corvettes and and GM won't warranty a cheesy broken latch that they consider "trim"??? I think we can all agree it's a pretty flimsy glove box....no?
Do you have another angle here or am I missing something...

No repair from GM???...Give me a big fat break GM "puulleasse"...
Hey, go easy on the guy, he is one of us....he is just frustrated that the halo car, from the brand he has supported over the years won't even fix a latch, under warranty no less.
