XM Renewal (Merged)

I had Sirius in my 10 Challenger. I paid for a year subscription and was 3 months into it when I got the Vette. Called them to transfer the remainder over to the Vette and was told no can do. Sirius and XM are different. SO had to cancel the account then apply the balance to the Vette on a different account.
Here is what really pisses me off though. The mid range package for Sirius has more channels than the same package on XM so I had to go to the top of the line service on XM to get the same channels I had.
Not sure why Sirius is a better deal than XM. Unless I get a deep discount when my time expires I am done with their BS.

I just paid $25 plus $2.00 for 6 months subscription about 2 months ago. Good Luck with getting me to pay more than that. Free is what i will be paying if it goes over $25 for 6 months. It's called old FM stations.

86.00 + fees (94.00 total) is the best I got a few days ago, I have three radios and they always try to screw me and send me a bill for full price even though the multi radio discount should apply (109.00).
So I call and complain, used to be 77.00, now its 86.00. Honestly dealing with XM/Sirius is a pain, I dread it, but I like the service so I put up with it. I wouldnt complain if they would charge the 109.00 its supposed to be, but if I have to waste a half hour on the phone fixing it I'll take the promo price for another year..

My '09 came up for renewal again about 3 weeks ago. Went through the process of calling and telling them to cancel my subscription because the price was too high for the time I spent in the car. Previously I had always managed to get them down to $77 with this tactic, and as of last year it was up to $84 with royalties added or something to that effect. This time around $107 was the best offer I could get even after threatening to cancel and being passed through 2 or 3 people. They kept making offers for shorter subscription periods like 6 months, but the overall cost per month wasn't changing. They were trying to be real slick about it too. I finally gave up and told them to cancel it which they did. Just 2 weeks later I get my first offer in the mail to renew. They wanted a CC number and something like $25 for 6 months. No way were they getting my CC number... I'll do without.

These guys are in the same category as the cable companies and car dealers when it comes to getting a straight, hassle-free answer and reasonable price for the service provided.
The thrash of just dealing with them is enough to keep me away.

You can have up to 4 radios on one account. All four of us have been paying $5 per month for a couple years now. But every 6 months my daughter who is the main account holder has to tell them any more than that and they can cancel all of it.

Renewal
For the past several years I have been renewing my XM subscription using " ZWINBACK", and or threatening to cancel. I always got the $77 deal. When I renewed today, and threatened to cancel my subscription, the best I was able to do was to get a reduction from about $150/year to $107.
Did I give in too soon? Have my bargaining skills diminished with age? What is your best RECENT price?

I'm very happy with out them, don't miss it at all. I don't miss begging for a discount every year over their $177 yearly fees, then pretend I got a great deal for only $79 that year when my car is stored during the winters! paying for it and not using it. I'm FREE!!!! support local radio!!!

I agree! I just cancelled my subscription as well. Got tired of dealing with them every 6 mos. to get a better deal. Why not just offer my renewal at the best possible price? That's what DirectV does for Sunday Ticket! No, they send me a bill for full rate. Had enough of it, eff them! They lose!

I just paid $107 to renew the XM in a dif vehicle. Has anyone with XM in two dif vehicles noticed that the reception in the vette isn't as good as the other vehicle? My vette reception cuts out in places that the other vehicle does not.

NOT TRUE. You can pay via credit card and get the same deal if you do it by check. I did not have any issues when I canceled XM on my Hyundai.

The only scam is xm giving teaser rates and then going up to full price. Most folks don't know about the auto renewal which sucks by the way. My wife and I fought them over this several cars back, she will only use the freebe and she's done because of this auto renewal feature.

If you bought the car used, the previous owner more than likely had a life time subscription. You by chance do not have a AO 08 purchased at the now defunct Corvettes of Dallas ??

The customer service number that I have used that seems to work well (not sure it is a U.S. person) is 1-800-929-2100. Usually gets answered on 1st or 2nd ring.
Also, (to another post), I have noticed that my 2013 Corvette XM radio cuts out or losses signals more often than my 2012 Toyota Avalon XM radio. I am guessing it has to do with were the antenna is located on the Corvette vs the Avalon.
