Yep. Seems like September is a better guess on plant tours being offered.

No list started yet... I was going to try and arrange something Thursday or Friday afternoon at the museum. Since I wont be making it, someone else needs to take over that task.....

I do have reservations made for 75 at the Montana Thursday at 6:00 pm.

Have now completed signing up the two of us for Museum Membership, and bash attendance. Staying at the Courtyard, and with any luck at all we will arrive in time to go to the Montana Thursday night. That's the plan, anyway. I know after circa 900 miles, the car will have a lot of road grime by the time of arrival, so I'll be eager to find a good place for "washing up".

Does anyone have any comments or a real-life description, and experience, of the autocross event at the bash?

I'm interested, but unsure. I am many years removed from performance driving like that, and never in a corvette. I could pre-register for $20 or maybe it is easy enough to get there, decide, and then sign up on the spot.

I would wait and register at the event if you decide to do it, mainly to see how much interest there is. In the past, particularly at the Forum Cruise-In's, the autocross was a BIG deal, with a lot of people participating. then it shrunk to not too much. But with the Bash having well over 1,000 people attending, it could be a good event to attend.

In the past, it's been a combination of novice to outright competition. Regardless if there are serious players out there, there's always room for newbies (after all, even the best were newbies at some point). It's actually a lot of fun. And you can pick up some pointers from the experienced guys.

Either way, have fun!

Cancelled our Bash plans this year.
Wife wasn't feeling up to the drive, and I'd rather go when I can do the plant tour, as well, since I've never been.

If I knew six months ago what I know now (that there'll only be two partial C7s there and we won't get to sit in them), I'd be skipping the bash in favor of the 60th birthday celebration in June (where they'll have 7 - 10 complete C7s).

That was kind of my turning point when I found that out.

Not that I'm even able to go but as far as the new vette goes, I don't feel that I'm missing anything by not going (under the present circumstances). The best part for me would be to finally meet all of my forum friends that I've known for years here. I agree with waiting until the next event where you can see, touch, and feel the new boy along with seeing all the friends.

I had some things come up so seeing as the Stingrays as originally promised will be a no show, going to wait for the next event. Will miss getting the chance to see everyone

I hate that so many people are dropping out due to not being able to sit in a C7. Believe me, there'll be plenty of chances to sit in C7's in the future. You're going to miss a great time if you don't go and enjoy the cars we do have now.
Plus, you'll miss another chance to see my smiling face.

I would love to go and see your smiling face but seeing that my job looks like it's going the way of the C6, it's just not the best time to spend too much extra cash.

Hope to see everyone next year....

Thanks, Tobasco.

Still planning to make the drive - it was never about the C7 for us, and we can see what the new car looks like, in real life 3-D, anyway. It had never occurred to me that they would have a production version ready 4 months ahead of schedule. When does that ever happen? And certainly they wouldn't be offering test drives, so .... not a factor.

Arctic, I'll look for a white vette.

Hey David - a ride in that beautiful 427 of yours would go a long way toward helping me get over the fact that we won't have a lot of C7s to drool over!

Don't shoot the messenger ...
Desperately need to SIT in competition seat to know BEFORE I order, oh well...
I feel your pain, Roc, as it would be nice to try out the sport seats. For me, though, promising as those seats appear in pictures, not having them at the Bash to actually try helps me stay on the plan to keep my GS for several more years!

Roc - just a thought. As you have heard numerous comments on this issue, I'm just wondering if someone can contact our Corvette friends at GM to see if they can at least bring a set of each of the new seats that can be set up to sit in. Hopefully they will understand that the group attending the Bash are pretty loyal and important customers.

Just a thought.

Brad,

That's a great idea as there is precedent for showing a new seat on its own at the Bash as was done at the 2011 Bash for the 2012 seat:
http://andyseipos.com/p338238819/h2c44c409#h2c44c409

Let's hope we'll have a C7 seat, if not a COMPLETE C7, to sit in at the Bash this year!

Randy,
Best of luck with the job situation. You can bet on me being there again next year, too.......if my luck holds out.
