05 issues?

05 issues?
Anything special I should know about this car? What is the main problems people have had? I know it was the first year C6 and everyone typically thinks new styling and engine upgrades means bugs to work out. Im just curious as to what I should expect from this car. Thanks.-Jason

The shift to reverse on shut down and steer column lock / failure to start can be annoying .
1st - 4th shift lock at low speed . All are minimal issues ... the car is so much fun . Do a good check
on remaining brakes / rotors ... tires tread could cost 2 -3 K for all ( look on the inner tread ... engine side )

Get a newer one. I had an 05. My 09 is a better car. The general rule of never buying the first model year of any car is a good one to follow.

I've owned my 2005 since new. My biggest gripe is the thin case differentials. Just like GM to put 50 additional hp in a new model, then save $2 in aluminum by designing a thin case.
Of course, they realized this too late and their "fix" was a software change that is called "torque management. This reduces engine output on manual cars in 1st and 2nd gears.
Torque management can be eliminated with a tune, as well as the idiotic 1st to 4th gear skip feature.
If you can restrain from burnouts and speed shitfing, the car should last a very long time.

your car auto or stick? auto's dont have column lock and dont think they had issues with dead batterey syndrome. some problem's with roof 05 to 07 or 08. recall supplied new roof. harmonic balancer problem from 05 till February 28 2013.

Enjoy your car, I don't care what year you have there will be some issues. This forum is a good place to give you a heads up on some of these issues and how to deal with them. My buddy and I have both have 05 verts, his with 2k miles and mine with 41k.
Both cars have been relatively trouble free to this date. The hb issue is the one that makes me a bit nervous so I am keeping a close eye on it. So have a good time and welcome to a pretty exclusive Club.
