the wife loves her 05
we just fixed the recalls (roof panel and active handling (clip to install))
added some goodies to it:
exhaust
intake
tune
and it's even more fun
personally i like the 05 steering wheel, dunno why... but i do
if there is a weakness to the 05's guess it's gonna be the rear

The 05 is the sixth Vette I've owned and by far the best !!
Prior Vettes....61, 66, 91, 96, 01 and presently 05.
This will be last Vette due to not wanting payments at my age and not going to layout cash. Its been a GREAT RIDE And will likely continue to be until reach goal of 200k miles in a few years
Anything special I should know about this car? What is the main problems people have had? I know it was the first year C6 and everyone typically thinks new styling and engine upgrades means bugs to work out. Im just curious as to what I should expect from this car. Thanks.-Jason
I have an 05 Z51 6spd that i bought used with 40000 miles 3 years ago, it has been a great car with no problems. This is my first Corvette and i love it. The only issue i have with the car is keeping the LeMans Blue color clean.
That whole setup went straight to trash. Replaced with RPM Stage III Z06 diff.
Dont blame you. I was just joking about it.
My friend ripped out 3, count them three 7.5 4th gen rears in his Trans Am in about 500 miles. Sad thing is two of them were under normal driving!
I see guys at the track I go to with their 70s Camaros running low 10s and some 9s on a stock housing 8.5" 10-bolt. Some upgrade to a 12 or go to a Ford 9" or an S60. Hell, one guy has a 69 Camaro with the 10-bolt that came stock in his car and he is in the mid 10s! Cant remember but I think that is just an 8.2".

I knew you were joking. When I was a kid in high school I had a 66 Chevy II SS with a 327/365, 12:1 pistons, a monster cam, 850 spread bore double pump carb (that actually probably dumped half the fuel out the tailpipes but at .35/gal who cared) and 10 bolt posi. I broke a lot of universal joints and driveshafts but never the rear.
I have an 07 Tahoe and that was a redesign year for it. I have had zero issues out of it except for replacing the u-joints and wheel sensors. No big deal there. I am not concerned about it being a first year car. I agree the newer cars are superior. No argument there but this is fine for me as a first time owner. I like the color and the interior and style.
Have an 05 since 05 with 46,000 miles. Had HB replaced before extended warranty ran out. No other problems so far. Be sure to shift into reverse before turning off engine or the battery will drain. Not a biggie at all and will be second nature very quickly. By now the previous owner should have taken care of any TSBs or recalls. (no recalls that I am aware of.) Good luck and enjoy your new ride!
05's are great cars...they can break down just like any other year model. Go for it and don't look back. I have had mine for a year and a half now and enjoying very second of it with no problems issues. About to throw a supercharger on it real soon! Be prepared though and have some money saved up for your mods. Once you start, you can't stop! Good luck and enjoy!

Funny you say that. One of my earlier comments was about remembering to park it in reverse. It has become a habit in the first three days of ownership. Im gonna drive it a while and give it to my son as a graduation gift. He loves cars as much as me and he absolutely adores this one. I cant think of a better person to give it to.

Likely only mods will be subtle. Gonna start with a set of Lloyds mats and then maybe a C6 log hood liner. Last will be wheels.

Cool graduation gift! Just be sure he understands the power of these cars. It can get real bad real fast!
05 for 15 months and the best. most head turning, fun to drive, park and look at car ever!!! can not wash it for two weeks and people still compliment on how awesome it is... expect to get thumbs up from other drivers pedestrians and little kids lol trouble free for me... well except for i messed up a little on the header install hahaha but nothing serious
if the door switch (pad where you grab ever stops cooperating even a little replace it 11 dollars 5 mins and will save you a dead battery and window malfunction
