Sorry to hear about this! It likely is a lifter. I hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction.

I couldn't help but notice what appears to be a Vans RV-4 as your avatar. I have time in one of those and loved every minute of it!

Just had this happen a few weeks back. Got in and upon start it showed low oil pressure. I gently rev the car a bit and it would go back to somewhat normal ranges when driving. Idle however got as low as 11 psi. Heard small knock as well. Turns out it was the oil pump. After parts were received by dealership i had her back in less than a day. They even gave me one of those new Caddy Ats's to check out for the weekend. Really nice car with some more pop i could love it. Good luck hope its a simple fix and they get her back in your hands quickly!

Status report. Dealer says GM is sending them an oil pump for my car. I asked them if they had opened it up yet to check for debris and flush the system while they were waiting for the pump....he said, No, GM wants us to wait for the pump before we do any disassembly. I asked how soon were they expecting the part(s) to arrive.... he said Monday.....WTF??? a week to get an oil pump??? Must be hand built in Wixom too??? I don't understand why IF they know/have a plan, why haven't they got things started and prepped the car for the oil pump IF that is the real problem????

If they didn't give you a rental car make sure they give you at least a Cadillac from Enterprise.

No good. Hope it all turns out well for you. When my other engine blew on my LS1 and the etx. Warranty was expired I decided to build a ZL402. I wouldn't ask for a replacement vehicle, but a fresh engine absolutely reasonable.

Only on this forum do you see people hear potential engine knock and keep driving.

Just a guess, but maybe they did not want to tie up a lift, waiting on parts.

I know... tough choice... wait for a ramp truck so they could drop it off outside the dealer on a Sunday or limp home about 1/2 mile and make arrangements on Monday. (besides aren't the runflats good for 100 miles at 60?) :-)

Justify the bad choice if you want.

Look closely and I think you'll see that's a R/C plane. The terrain is what clued me in. Hey, I've been wrong before though!

Makes sense, the service advisor should have just said that instead of "GM told us to wait". Of course I forgot, I was talking to a service advisor....
