I prefer the same color as body. I have a Torch Red 2011 and don't think it looks like a cartoon car. One of my favorite things about the C6 is the fixed lens headlights. When shiny and clear, the lens presents a great design feature that stands out. Contrasting colors inside lens makes it too busy in my opinion. What makes the C6 such a great look is the clean, slippery and flow of lines. Looks fast standing still.
I want to do black headlights on my Arctic White.. that's a down the road, not super important mod.. but I will eventually do it. I do not like the color matched headlights at all.
I read that the body colored headlights were done to appease the people that would bitch about the exposed headlights on the C6. Makes sense to me. I almost went with the CG bezels on my AW. The more I look at them, the more I'm glad I didn't. Blends in, doesn't stand out. I still like the dark lenses on certain colors, especially on the 60th AW with the stripes. Just won a trophy and was up against some stiff competition with the dark lights.
I'm afraid it is just a fad and black rims will just make a car look dated. But I could be wrong...
Kind of like the Avacado and Harvest Gold appliance color fad did years ago.
The black rims are still a fringe choice on new vettes only accounting for as a selected option on about 1 or 2 percent of the vettes produced in both the 2012 and 2013 model years according to GM's official final production figures. That is the highest percentage yet for black rims. In both of the last two years chrome wheels on new vettes still outsold all other finishes combined.
